Indoor Range At West Seattle, Washington.

Greetings,

Fired a Sectional Match at the West Seattle indoor range Saturday.

They remodeled the range including NEW LIGHTS!!!

It is most enjoyable to be able to see my front sight clearly, once again.

"Two snaps and a twist" for West Seattle!

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Domino choices

Greetings, 22lr barrels actually do wear out. Most of the damage is at the end of the case just where the leade is. The priming compounds contain erosive material and a "crater" develops. A lot of the early 22lr barrels were not fully heat treated. Recent Pardini barrels are 40 HRC while t...

Re: Human vs Vice

The more interesting question is, "Are you testing the barrel in the machine rest or the ammo ?" because most of the time we may test many ammo's but only one barrel. Greetings, A good question. I have found that, for example, in the 32 S&W Long WadCutter loaded with the 0.314" H...

Re: Human vs Vice

Greetings, Years ago, I had a Hämmerli SP20 in 32 S&W Long. The barrel is easily removed from the shroud without special tools. I mounted the barrel only in a mechanical fixture and fired 3 ten shot groups at 50 yards. Next, I returned the barrel to the shroud and assembled the pistol. Using a B...

Re: FAS 6007: FTF due to weak hammer spring?

Greetings,

For a TEMPORARY fix, try this...

Remove spring and measure the free length.

Now, stretch the spring about 40% longer.

Important, place the spring in your oven and temper at 450F for 30 minutes.

Cheers,

Dave

Re: New glasses

Greetings, When I have a shooting lens made, I take my usual shooting stance and the Optometrist marks on the lens with a grease pencil the center of my pupil when aligning the sights. If no guns are allowed, merely focus on the end of your finger. When initially cut, the lenses are round and the op...

Re: Everyday eyeglass wearers and Varga/Knobloch

Thanks fc60, So you're saying I need to have the doc look to see and mark exactly where my pupil is pointing through the lens when I'm in position and staring at the front post? Do I understand correctly? Yes. Wear your current glasses, assume your shooting stance, and have someone mark your lens w...

Re: Everyday eyeglass wearers and Varga/Knobloch

Greetings, I have a set of Champion glasses that I seldom use due to the same vision issues you describe. The best solution I have found is a pair of glasses cut to focus on the front sight. Then, I have a bifocal at the bottom to see the screws on the rear sight and enable me to score without chang...

Re: Who can afford this?

Greetings, Being a "Grand Geezer" come Jan 01, 2022 I recall something from the past... The NRA would allow clubs to have an ISU Preliminary Tryout Match (PTO) in which the scores were mailed in to the NRA. Then, when the ISU/UIT National Championship was held they sent out invitations to ...

Re: New to 10m (and AP in general)

Greetings,

What is a "HW40"?

Perhaps a link to help educate me?

Regarding your groups, they should shrink in size the more you practice and build up your arm and upper body strength.

Re: Is any crimp required for wadcutter bullet reloading?

Greetings, The NRA did extensive testing on crimping 38 WadCutter ammo. Result was no measurable difference in grouping. PROVIDED you fired groups with the same crimp on all rounds. Often, crimping is needed to ensure positive feeding with auto-loaders. Roll crimp offers the best for feeding and is ...

Re: S&W Model 41 Rear Sight Variants

Greetings,

The sight illustrated was used on the Model 52 and Model 41 5.5" Heavy Barrel.

They are no longer made.

Use caution modifying your sight as replacement parts are difficult to source.

Also, changing out the rear blade involves replacing the windage nut and screw.

Re: Kurger targets are no longer accepted by the NRA

Greetings, I reuse the Kruger targets that the Junior Club uses for 22lr matches for group testing ammo. The bullet holes cut into the Kruger target material is far superior to the "Tagboard" material. There is something in the paper emulsion that makes them, Kruger/Edelmann, work so well....

Re: Question on pistol practice

I am a "Precision Pistol" (bullseye) competitor and Air and Free Int'l shooter. When I am at the range and see 7 yard shooters, I know they are piss poor shots. They generally are shooting pistols that are hopelessly inaccurate for my games, and, due to ammo cost, will NEVER get enough pr...

Re: Dillon Powder Funnel for .32SWL

Greetings, I load with a Star; but, the following process should transfer to a Dillon device. I size my cases based on the diameter of a loaded round. Example, a 0.314" bullet seated in a Lapua case measures 0.3345"-0.3350". So, I size all my brass to 0.334" prior to loading. My ...
