Unusual storage problem
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I must store my competition handguns in my SUV between trips to the range. I will welcome any suggestions for safe storage in a north-east climate

Early SP-20 slam fires
A chronic case of doubling has worsened despite attempts to correct by several experienced gunsmiths. By chance, I retrieved a fired case after doubling and found no indent from the firing pin. Three doubles later the fired cases had no indentations. Then the gun fired as the slide was released. An ...

I'm looking for info on very light loads with 150 gr bullets in 45 ACP. I prefer not to use Bullseye on an indoor range. Clays or TiteGrp preferred.

Thanks for all the good info. After determining that the problem had to be with the ratchet and with unskilled eye seeing no apparent damage with 4X loupe, but seeing some small particles of ???, I gave the whole assembly a good working over with small stiff brush. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I do not have to...

Colt Python repair
Would anyone with first -hand experience care to comment on Colt factory repair in terms of (1) quality of work, (2) turn around time, (3) cost? My Python has very quickly developed heavy trigger and cocking pull on two chambers. The advice I have seen in these forums is use a gunsmith specializing ...

lead & jacketed bullets striking sloping steel plate
For those of you who are long time NRA members, you will be saddened to learn of the death of Mr. William C. Davis last Thursday (3/4/2010). Mr. Davis was the ballistics editor for "American Rifleman" for many years and probably was unsurpassed in his knowledge of the subject. My desire fo...

lead & jacketed bullets striking sloping steel plate
I would like to start a dialog with anyone with experience (actual or theoretical) in the performance of lead and jacketed bullets striking a sloping steel plate and/or the interior of a large diameter (10") steel pipe. Obviously this pertains to backstop design and performance.

Thanks Spenser. The Pilkguns SP20 is excellent but suffers from copying the origianl Hammerli diagram which is poorly drawn. It is impossible for me to identify the function of all parts shown and in particular, impossibe to tell if screws affecting slack force and slack weight merely apply spring p...

Hammerli SP20 trigger adjustment
Can anyone tell me which screw(s) increase or decrease hammer/sear engagement? Can the engagement be adjusted and still maintain a decent two stage pull? I am trying to eliminate sporadic multiple discharges.

Replace buffer screw in SP20
Larry's Guns found that a broken buffer screw was cause of my many misfires. The replacement was expensive and total labor a shock but the real downer was that Larry had my gun for three months! I recommend paying the Hammerli price for a replacementnt ($8.00) but install it yourself. Follow Hammerl...

Compare basic free pistol and AP techniques
Would anyone care to venture a comparison? I find shooting AP in a postal league quite enjoyable. Firing a standard pistol for 50' free pistol in the same league is not much fun. I am considering purchasing a used free pistol but my next birthday will be number 80 so a long learning curve is not in ...

Hammerli SP20 failure to cock
Near end of approx 400 rnd bench test of 8 brands of premium 22 cal ammo, gun began misfiring due to hammer not cocking. After thorough cleaning and lube, gun continued to misfire about once in 20 rnds using my regular proven ammo. I suspected buffer adjustment was cause but hammer cocks when bolt i...

Published review Hammerli SP20 RRS .22 cal
Can anyone refer me to a published review or, beter yet, relate personal experience/opinion of the recoil reduction system. Does it really work or is it merely a marketing gimisc?
My previous post may have been unclear. Many have looked; none have respomded.

Hammerli RRS .22 cal
I received SP20 22cal RRS barrel shroud assembly in error (20g weight ordered).
Would appreciate opinions on effectiveness of RRS before deciding to keep or return the assembly.
