I have an end of the production run Tau 7 Junior and love it. It's as accurate as my IZZY was and a lot more fun to shoot. I did have problems with it's accuracy when I first got it but I did what I call "Deep Cleaning" of the barrel. I won't say what that was 'cause some of you would go n...

I talked about the 4H program and airguns with the prime mover in airgun competition down here last nite. She said she had talked to them about airguns in the past but they weren't really interested. They're perfectly happy shooting their .22 rimfires.

Re: Tom Johnson's Sporter Tips

[Also CharlesC .... where are you located in NM (down near Las Cruces?) Are you 4-H, club, or JROTC?[/quote] Radium Springs is 15 miles north of Las Cruces by old Ft Selden. I shoot 10 meter air pistol competition in the NM Senior Olympics. I'm currently the state champion in both benchrest airpisto...

I think I found the answer

OK, I get it. "4.2.5 Internal Modifications The functioning of internal parts may be smoothened or improved, but only factory manufactured parts designed for that specific model rifle and functioning as they were originally intended to function may be used. It is permitted to polish, file or ot...

I read some comments on 3P rules a few posts down about someone installing a non-OEM steel weight rail in place of the stock aluminum one. Would it be stretching the rules to use an OEM part but in a different place, i.e. a stock Crosman trigger spring substituted inside the Crosman gas valve for th...

I didn't know that. I shoot only 10 meter and the rare field target event. Do you have to use completely stock guns? Define stock.

Challenger 2000 rifle rework.

I have worked on a number of CH 2000 rifes that would not puncture CO2 capsules and were not accurate. Here's what you do: Pull the gas valve and put the spring that's behind the trigger inside. That trigger spring is way too strong as is the one inside the gas valve. That too strong gas valve sprin...

A friend recently called Daisy and was told they still have some 777 pistol grips in stock for $60 per pair ($30 per panel). Altho they are wood, I'm not very impressed with their ergonomics.
I think a much better set of grips may be purchased from:

I made the grips and pump handle/forearm from some very old black walnut.

For a lighter trigger pull you need to install a weaker sear spring. Remove right grip panel to get to it. It's the big coil spring. Don't remove the small panel held on by two small flat head screws. If you do the safety detent ball and spring will fly off to parts unknown. Springs can be found at ...

Daisy has them for sale

As it turns out a friend called Daisy Friday inquiring about availability of 777 rear sights. They said the only original parts they have for the 777 are the grips. If he understood them correctly they are $30 per side or $60 for the complete set.

From the array of replies it seems that most any oil will work. I used Crosman Pelgun oil in the past. I'm currently using non-detergent 30 wt motor oil. Pelgun Oil is the same type of oil with a red dye in it. Non-detergent motor oil is available at most hardware stores.

We had our County Sr. Olympics airpistol matches today. I lucked out today and won gold in Standing Air pistol with my Crosman 1377 shooting my hand selected Basic pellets. Second place was shot with a IZH-46M shooting RWS R-10 pellets. He beat me in benchrest airpistol with me shooting my IZH-46 an...

You know very well that matches are often won or lost by one point and ties, at least in the events I shoot in, are settled by the number of 10's each shooter has. What I said above was "Because they are marginaly more accurate I will using hand selected RWS Basic pellets this year to see if I ...

I use cheap Crosmans for practice. Ouch! Why do people want to use substandard ammo for training and then swap for matches ? That is probably the worst thing to do - you'd be better sticking with the cheap stuff for all, if you really can't afford the extra 30% cost (or whatever it is there). Rob. ...

I have been shooting RWS Basic pellets lately and also find a little piece of loose lead on a lot of them too. It's usually on one side on top of the head. You can flick it off with your fingernail. Weights are variable too. I sort them for match shooting with a powder scale, setting off-weight ones...

While your pistol may be accurate with Crosman pellets you might want to consider that Crosman pellets are very dirty. I mean VERY dirty! There is an almost insignificant difference in accuracy in my IZH-46 between Crosman pellets and RWS or H&N. Cleanliness of the German pellets sways me to buy...

That extra weight up front is why some of us prefer the non-M original Izzy. Mine doesn't feel all that muzzle heavy to me. A friend bought a new M model and it is somewhat more tiring to shoot a full match with.
