Re: Anschutz Fortner 1827 dry fire donut
Late to the party but yes, most 1827’s will fire with the donut in place. I’ve seen one that wouldn’t. The danger of leaving the donut in for a race is that it may break during a shooting bout causing the firing pin to bind creating light strikes or no strike. If that happens there goes your race. I...

Re: Pole length
Bbb can you point me to a link or a source for the change regarding classic skiing and biathlon you are referring to? To my knowledge classic or diagonal stride has always been allowed but is rarely used because freestyle or skate technique is generally faster. The IBU regs regarding pole length Sim...

Re: find at the LGS
A quick search on the internet revealed a couple of possible sites to download a manual. If those don't work check with Marc Sheppard of Altius Handcrafted Guns. I know one person who owns an Izhmash. I'll see if they have a manual.

Scatt Biathlon
Are any of you folks using the Scatt Biathlon system? If so can you comment on its usefulness? Does it provide all the information that their other systems do?

Walther Diopter Sight
Hoping for some advice about these older Walther rear sights. I'm putting together a left handed rifle for one of our juniors and these are setup for a left handed rifle and shooter. Do any of you have any experience with these? Any known problems or issues? Will they take modern standard metric thr...

Re: Biathlon in NW Oregon, SW Washington?
There are no organized civilian biathlon clubs in those areas that I am aware of. There is a forum member who goes by the name of "Franc" in the Anschutz subforum over at rimfirecentral.com. He is in the Portland area and owns at least one older Anschutz biathlon rifle. He has expressed an...

I also wear glasses. Most of the time an antifog treatment does the job. However on occassion it fails. I train with Jeremy Teela and he has been telling me to shoot without glasses. When I've tried shooting without glasses I see a double image of the front aperture. However, a week ago I found that...

Re: Izh-7-3 rising block (for the foresight)
If you have talked to Marc at Altius and he couldn't help I doubt there is an off the shelf solution other than a custom milled piece. The other sources to try would be Larsenbiathlon.com in Norway. You might also check with Nordicmarksman.com in Canada. However, neither website shows a riser for th...

Re: Spotting scope for 50m outdoors
I use a Konus 80mm 20-60x spotting scope for smallbore and am not limited in hole-spotting by the scope. There have been days that, depending on the background behind the target, the angle of sun, the backer on the target, etc., that I have not been able to spot shot holes, but the scope has never ...

Check with Marc Sheppard at Altius Handcrafted Firearms, Nordicmarksman in Canada, and Clayton Mendel at Eastern Sierra Armory (ESA). Dave Anana is the representative for Bear stocks in the US. They make stocks for the 7-3.

Re: izmash magazines for Sobol available anywhere?
I've always wanted a straight throw rifle, but it looks like the mags might be gone. Any clues as to where I could find a couple of 22lr mags for the Sobol? Give Marc Sheppard at Altius a call. He is showing these available on his website: http://www.altiusguns.com/product.php?product_id=21137 CJ

Re: cheap biathlon alternative....
Has anyone looked further into using the PWS T3 for biathlon? Can someone share a list of opinions on the minimum modifications that would be needed to make it race ready? - magazine storage on stock - front and rear sights w/snow cover - handstop, sling, harness, cuff, rifle cover, blinder, etc. W...

The 1827F has a saftey on the left side of the action just above the stock. It may be hard to see in photographs.mike@nds wrote:So you are telling me definitively that there is no manual safety present on an 1827.

Does anyone else find this post a little odd? It's posted in a 2 year old thread and is unrelated. It closely resembles another post which appeared in the last several months also by a first time poster. I don't get it. If it is a troll it worked. I let the first one go but can't give this one a pas...

Its hunting season in Montana. Mark may be away from home. Mac Tilton at MT Guns used to sell the 7-3 and 7-4 he may be able to answer your question. On a Canadian biathlon website, I don't remember which one, I saw a notice that Miramichi Biathletes Inc. was importing Izhmash rifles through Larsen....

All Ruger 1022's are semi auto unless you remove the receiver and replace with the PWS T3 Summit receiver.
