Re: Shooting after premium lens replacement eye surgery?
I have a friend who shoots outdoor prone smallbore and had cataract surgery. He had the "multi-focal" lenses implanted and can see great. But shooting metallic sights, he has had a problem with uncalled wide 9s. They all seem to be the same radius from the center, but in fairly random dire...

Re: Trigger question
I shoot prone with a sling. For all my rifles, I have as much over travel as possible. The theory is that having the free trigger travel will allow time for the bullet to leave the barrel. The trigger hitting a stop may either disturb the rifle or cause my grip to change, moving the rifle. I don't k...

Re: KK500 storage length
Ben,
Without the buttplate and carrier, the length of the rifle with the barrel extension is 42 inches. This is for the longer barrel rifle. Convert to metric as needed.

Re: Dry firing a KK500?
Have heard that KK500s have a finite firing pin life. I would suppose that it is from the pin being below the center of the spring, for the 6 oclock pin location. The engineering types probably can figure out all the force vectors and stuff. I would like to get a spare. Does anyone know where to ord...

Re: Decent chronograph
I use a low end Caldwell chronograph for pellets, but indoors I have it set up with two Harbor Freight LED flashlights over the sunscreens. The issue most chronys have indoors is with 60 hz light flicker. Most cheap household LED bulbs do have some flicker. The flashlights are battery DC powered, so...

Re: Scatt Basic vs Expert software
Thanks for all the input. I ordered a MX-02 with the Expert software. Scatt has it on sale for $300 less than usual, so it is a bargain. At least that is what I'll tell my wife.

Re: Scatt Basic vs Expert software
Thanks for the software features chart. That is exactly what I was looking for. I like the newer Scatt, MX-02 or Basic, that can use a paper target at greater distances. What features are in the Expert software, but not in the Basic, that are the most useful? Or will the Basic software do most of th...

Scatt Basic vs Expert software
I am looking into a Scatt trainer and would like to know what are the limits and differences between the Basic and Expert software? I am looking at the Basic and MX-02 and will use it mainly for smallbore prone and highpower, with some air rifle and air pistol thrown in. My scores are flirting with ...

Re: Aluminum pellets
I agree that it is the lead dust that presents the most hazard with shooting pellets. The dust is created when the pellets hit a solid surface and deform. like when using metal pellet traps. I made a nice steel trap with angled deflection baffles and a collection tray. When cleaning out the tray, th...

Re: Good shooting glove
Thanks for all the feedback. I bought a Monard Proliner open finger glove. There was a 80 round club match and I tried it out. It really helped in relieving pressure in the web of my hand and spread out the pressure across my wrist. Definitely an improvement over the $30 Champions Choice glove. My o...

Good shooting glove
I am in the market for a new shooting glove for prone. I have used Champions Choice gloves with the black grippy rubber. The problem I have been having is the sling pressure presses on the bones in the back of my wrist and causes some pain and numbness after about 12-15 minutes. The Kurt Thune Solid...

Re: Budget optics for prone rifle?
The current Weaver T-24 is good. They have a fine crosshair with a dot and track well. The newest side focus ones are more expensive, but I have seen them on sale under $500. I have one of the older AO ones and I like it a lot. They are discontinued, but maybe you can still find one or get one used....

Re: 10 meter outdoor target holders
Thanks. I like the holders made from PVC pipe. They would be easy to build and lightweight so we can move them into the storage shed. We don't need a backstop built in, since we would use them at a outdoor range.

10 meter outdoor target holders
My club in southern Ohio is considering having a monthly outdoor 3 position smallbore matches next summer. I would like to include air rifle if possible, but we don't have free standing target holders to set at 10 meters. What have clubs used for outdoor target holders? Are there any commercially ma...
