For what it is worth, Frankonia in Germany stock and sell the IZH-35 (or IJ35 as it is there - same thing). They do it as a "standard" grade, "tuned" (where they call it the Frankonia Favorit) and also "tuned with a snazzy two-tone finish". Frankonia happily sell pistol...

Dating a Walther GSP by serial number

Does anyone have a list (or know of one online) which matches the serial number of a Walther GSP .22 with the approximate date of manufacture? Can the serial number / date of manufacture also be used to work out where the pistol might sit along the line of gradual improvements that Walther made to t...

I would be inclined to go for the Walther SSP. Yes the pistol has yet to fully prove itself, but it is a very recent design which was extensively tested before being released. Most importantly, Walther have put a lot of time, effort and money into bringing this pistol to the market and so should be ...

Though I can't comment on the Dillon Press (have used but never owned one so don't know it that well), I have had problems with ADI AP70. I found the powder burns too slowly for .32 L and the big flakes didn't dispense well. When using it I also always seemed to end up with a lot of what appeared to...

I purchased my Knobloch shooting frames with an additional lens holder for my left eye when I bought them about three years ago. I then had my optician make and fit a left lens into the holder that was the same as my normal left eye prescription. Knobloch sell a strut as an accessory (part #300171, ...

Re: Great Help!

About the only gun that's "in between" in price that was recommended and which might be a credible choice is the Baikal IZH-35M, priced at about $500. It's a Russian gun and, like all things Russian, is about as pretty as a lawnmower Not necessarily - look at the finish on this example fo...

Just curious - what types of shooting are most popular in NZ? In no particular order... Deer shooting Duck shooting Pig shooting Swan shooting Wallaby shooting Rabbit shooting Opposum shooting Goat shooting... :) It's such a hunter's paradise that target shooting will always play second-fiddle.

I turn mine off when taking a rest. I find it's good to get into the habit of switching it off when you are not immediately using it so to avoid the situation of putting it away in your safe with the circuit still running (which I once managed to do after a dry-firing session and drained the battery...

Re: Hw40 vs. Izzy

I never seen the CZ's air pistol, please, can you post a link or a photo? As requested - along with their new budget target AR as well. Taken from the Frankonia 2005/2006 catalogue. The grip looks a little rudimentary, but it still looks like it would be good value for the money. http://img201.imag...

Re: Hw40 vs. Izzy

They're both very good pistols; if you're cost conscient and the price levels are like in Europe, then go for the Hw; if not then go for the Izzy. Us price are very different: for the Izzy (that i own on Italy for 320 EUR), american's price is 269$~215EUR! I agree - there is something odd about the...

Another question is can the compensator be moved back in further so that the muzzle end doesnt get that heavy or does it have a set position? The Morini compensators (both the old and the new version) are in a fixed position - otherwise their effectiveness would be compromised. The position of the ...

Should I use the same load on a S&W M52-2 Pistol?
If possible, alway try and use a solid base wadcutter in your S&W M52. There are a lot of M52's with bulged barrels due to hollow-base wadcutters seperating in the barrel.

Now I'm very curious about other guns, revolvers in particular. My first thought was a Manurhin or maybe a S&W. What do you think about that? I mean other thoughts, than previous stated on this thread. I used to have a TOZ 49 revolver chambered in .32 S&W long. I found (like "guest&quo...

Pelican cases are a fair degree heavier compared to the same size of Storm case. This means it may have some protection advantage over the Storm but unless you are going into a war-zone or some other insanely rough environment I think this is largely irrelevant. If anything, the lighter weight of th...

Those prices are nuts! The sellers seem to think that they are either rare or collectible - and they are neither. They are also massaging the truth somewhat in their description that it is an "Olympic level" gun. It was in the 1950's and 60's - but in a much modified and customised form. B...

Here in New Zealand, used Margolins like the type you describe (i.e. cased with barrel weights - but with their extractors!) sell for about the equivalent of (US) $150 - $250 dollars. They can still be purchased new for $250 but the older Soviet-era ones are preferred by many because their triggers ...

Re: Walther SSP Design Question

I have been told it the SSP loads from the top. Would anyone like to comment on why Walther went to a top loading handgun? I can see disadvantages but what are the advantages? Are there other handguns that load that way? The major advantage of a top loader is that it allows you to have a grip raked...

Re: Free Pistol Champions

A useful site but it doesn't list weapons shot. Rob. Alas I doubt that anyone bothered to record this information. However apart from a few exceptions, we can probably safely assume the domination of the Toz35 from 1960 onwards and perhaps the early 100 series Hammerli's in the 1950's. What I do fi...

.32 reloading and crimping

I want to get a separate crimp die to fill the fourth station on the Lee Turret press I use for reloading my 32's. Lee manufacture both roll (or "factory") crimp and taper crimp dies for .32 s&w L. I've read that roll crimps are more for revolvers and taper crimps more for semi-auto's....
