Chen Ying's pistol

Here's an image of Chen Ying on her way to winning Gold in 25m Pistol at the Beijing Olympics. Can anyone identify what her pistol is?

This seems an appropriate thread to insert a couple of stunning photographs by Alexandra Boulat from a series looking at Muslim women of the Middle East and Afghanistan. They were published in Winter 2006 edition of the art-photography magazine, Aperture . These two were taken in Tehran. Check out t...

My preference would be for the 602 because of the trigger and weight (and in this case, lack of use and lower price). There is nothing wrong with the 607, but that heavy 602 shroud really makes it for me (though I do know that women prefer the lighter 607). Even if the pistol has hardly been touched...

Those "go faster" racing stripes on the newer HP models are actually reinforcing strips to help prevent a frame-cracking problem that happened with some MP's. My understanding was that this tended to occur with shooters who primarily used hotter factory-loaded ammunition. This was particul...

In Canada we have two major parties the Liberals (seen as anti gun) and Conservatives (seen as pro gun). Except for the fact that registration was actually put in place by a Conservative government. Many think the Conservatives are our friends, but in reality if they thought throwing us under the b...

Re: issf equipment dealers in Rome

I will be in Rome shortly for a while and was wondering if there is an address for a firearm/accessory shop that I could visit. Very little chance to do this in my country of origin. Thanks You could try contacting the National Shooting Centre in Rome (a beautiful looking complex). http://www.tsnro...

....and lastly, they are CHEAP! Brilliant value at roughly US$250 - $275 new which makes them the ideal base for creating your own D.I.Y über-pistol.

What I'd really like to see would be sample pack made up of (say) 50 pellets of each sized pellet made making a total of 250 pellets. I know they would be fiddly to put together and each group of 50 would have to be bagged separately, but I would be happy to pay a premium price for such a product so...

Re: location

Also I am not looking forward to spending 100 on a AW93 mag and ruining it when I try to mod it. Don't worry - the process to modify an AW93 mag to fit an IZH35 is not difficult. The terms "modify" and "adapt" conjures up images of toolmakers with milling machines, but as soon a...

As well as making it more media "friendly", finals are the ultimate test of being able to remain calm under pressure. During the main match you can (depending on the event of course) take things at your own pace while being in your own little world. However during finals you can almost fee...

Following on from that, here's something from Morini which I filed away about three years ago. Sight radii given are with the standard factory barrel length. You can see that the minimum sight radius with the long compensator is longer than the maximum with short compensator (and the sight radius wi...

Re: Morini

Out of curiosity, I have heard of the comp terms long and short and old and new. What are the differences? The older (= shorter) Morini 84e compensator costs a bit less, reduces noise to a fair degree, moderately extends the sight radius, and can be a bit tricky to clean. The newer (= longer) compe...

As an aside, you may like to consider trying Vihtavuori powder some time in the future. It is available in NZ (in the North Island at least) and IMHO, is better in almost every respect to ADI (except that it costs more). I bought some N310 for reloading my .32's last year and wouldn't consider going...

I had one, sold it... and have regretted doing so ever since (particularly as I now have much more experience in the CF match compared to when I owned my example). Mine had been converted to .32 WC. There's an extensive list of training drills written by the former New Zealand ISSF Pistol coach at http://www.pistolnz.org.nz/pdf/traindrills.pdf. The "holding card" described is a white circle on a black background (easy enough to create using MS Paint or similar).

Interestingly, the hold-back mechanism was the only major change that FWB made to the original Haidurov design - and it took them several years before they introduced it. None of the Russian target pistols I have seen were ever (in their original form at least) fitted with any form of hold-back syst...

Yes - it's easily done. You can either do it so it is reversible or something more permanent. The mechanism / lever which operates the hold-back on the last shot is on the right-hand side of the pistol. By taking off the grip all is revealed. To make it easily reversible, simply remove the hold back...
