Horizontal Pulse in prone
As the title suggests I'm getting a horizontal pulse in the prone position, could anyone give me some pointers to try and work out what might be causing this? Ive had vertical pulse plenty of times before and can normally solve this but the sideways movement appeared out of nowhere and left me strug...

Re: Gehmann Diopter
I use one and I'm very happy with it. Please note that it doesn't fix astigmatism, for that you'll need to add the Gehmann cylindrical system. My astigmatism isn't that bad so I don't bother with correcting it. What I like about the Gehmann 50300-0 is that when I'm shooting in the evenings indoors (...

Re: Need help choosing Starik tube
Everything Tim has said is correct, as always. The only points I would add are 1) how old are you and 2) how tight is your hold? The reason I ask about your age is that older shooters tend to use longer tubes as their eyes loose the ability to accommodate close focus. I'm in my mid 40's and use the ...

Re: sudden large changes in point of impact
Out of curiosity, were you using the same box of ammo for both cards? Also was it old ammo? Ammo could cause a POI shift if the speed is significantly different. I have a turner and use R50 and R100 to tune it and at the beginning the difference between the two speeds is enough to put a round into t...

Re: Cleaning bloop tube/tuner
It's important to clean the barrel crown where it fits inside the tube. A dirty crown will have more effect on accuracy than a dirty tube but the residue is corrosive so needs to be removed from both. I clean both after every session by passing an old oily cloth through the tube and wiping the barrel.

Re: Upgrade my rifle or switch
Sounds like you need to find the reason for the flyers to me. I had an old anschutz that did the same, turned out there was a pit in the barrel that would pick up lead until there was too much and then it would stick to the next round down and throw the shot off. As others have said give it a really...

Re: Curious About New Rifle Test Cards
Perhaps the damage was done after the factory inspection and test target. I agree with James on this. I believe its far more likely that the test card was fired at the factory and then the rifle was sent for proof, which it probably failed (remember proofing involves firing a round much stronger th...

Re: Building 50 & 100 prone rifle
I went with 27 inch long by 0.9 inch barrel when I rebarreled my Anschutz, this is about 4mm shorter than the original 1913 barrel. I then added the short Staric tuner.

Re: MEC Push Up II
Thank you for the heads up, I hadnt noticed the Tec-HRO model and its cheaper than the others so I've ordered one today.
Hopefully it'll solve the problem.
thanks again.

MEC Push Up II
I need to shoot with cant as bending my wrist to much pulls on my forearm down near my elbow and causes discomfort from an old tenis elbow injury. I already use a palm riser on my stock but I'm now considering one that will cant out from the stock so I can remove the opporsite cant from the stock. I...

Eye Relief and aiming accuracy
Thinking out loud, after seeing a photo of Harald Stenvaag at Dortmund yesterday with massive rear sight eye relief (about two inches by my estimate) is there any aiming gains or disadvantages having such a large amount? In my own training last week (indoor at 25yds) reducing the distance between th...

Re: Anschutz Precise Cheekpiece Mods
I had the same problem and glued a TEC-HRO cheek piece on that I already had (see attached pis). You can buy them separately from their website: https://tec-hro.de/schiesssport/en/bench-rest-shooting/265-tec-hro-cheek-piece-carbon.html Works a treat as I prefer the highly polished finish and curvatu...

Duplicating Eagle eye effect in shooting lens
I'm looking to remove my 0.3 eagle eye and move the magnification to my shooting lens instead (not ISSF prohibited). My current prescription is +0.25, would it be as simple as changing to +0.5 or would it become +1.5 (as eagle eye is sometimes listed as x1.3 magnification)?
thanks

Re: risers and stuff
Ive just recently removed my 16mm risers in favour for of a palm riser instead (using a precise stock). By bringing the whole rifle up rather than just the sights I've found it also improved my trigger hand position. Might be worth thinking about however does cost a lot more than a set of risers. An...

Adding weight to barrel to reduce pulse
As the title sugguests, has anyone had any results with adding weight to the barrel to reduce pulse? My thoughts are that it might increase fatigue issues but the extra weight might dampen any pulse inputs. (I already use the mec anti-pulse sling btw). I've ordered some collar clamps to try on the b...

Re: 1918 Anschutz Precise Stock - Pistol Grip Large vs Mediu
I have small to medium size hands but use the large grip. When I tried both side by side the only real differance was that the small was thinner than the large (think 0 vs O), it wasnt smaller in length front to rear. I preferred the large and have even added material to it to try and make it more r...

Re: Riser Blocks and accuracy
Alternatively Matt Emmons uses a fore end riser to get the same head position (although I know this is an old photo) raising the whole rifle as opposed to just the sights. I also like the idea of raising my right hand up too.

Re: Riser Blocks and accuracy
This strikes me as an interesting subject that deserves more responses, though, with any luck, from better qualified people than I. Exactly what I thought, but you cant get any more qualified than Mr Starik! (thank you Guy for your input) I would have thought that the risk from high riser blocks is...
