Thanks for the input, guys. Much appreciated! Outside of the bit of discomfort, everything else feels right about shooting the raked grip. I can shoot the gun with an amazingly light grip (as you mentioned), and still get very good results. By habit I tend to try and grip it harder. Hmmm? Maybe that...

Just as an FYI on the MKIII listed for sale... Great price, actually, but the 22/45 model has a composite grip that I believe is part of the frame. Regardless of the design, there are no aftermarket grip options for it. If it works for you as-is, great. Also, if you didn't already know, the 22/45 ha...

Is the raked grip of Euro guns an "acquired taste"

I've stepped into the lower end of the Euro .22's with the recent purchase of a Benelli MP95. I've added a correct size Rink grip (which fits my hand beautifully!), and am overall very pleased with it. However, I have this issue with the gun/grip... If I grip it comfortably(naturally)and lower it do...

I was in a similiar position about a year ago. I'll add my two cents+ from my research and experience... Buckmark and Ruger MK's - Plenty of used and number of new models of each in your price range. As a previous post-er said, more value to be had in used. And best deals I've seen have been on the ...

Anyone ever buy guns through Roco?

Figured I might find it in a search here, seeing as they deal with Hammerli and Walther pistols. But no mention. Anyone???

Nill/Rink Grip comparison question...

I've searched and read all I could find, but have a kinda' specific question... I've recently had a Nill's match grip on a Browning Buckmark. Fit great, except that it was a bit lacking in the "bulge" that fills your palm on the right side (on a right hand grip). Question: Will a same-size...

It sounds like you'll probably get it solved yourself. But if you're still looking for someone to work on it, Larry's Guns in Maine sells/services Pardini.

Height of scope/dot matter?

In the realm of target pistols... I understand the reasoning for having the barrel sitting as low as possible, in proximity to the hand. But is there any benefit to having a low sightline? Or in the case of a dot or scope, it being mounted low? I guess if you get technical about it, the higher the d...

Anyone own a Hammerli Xesse?

Don't mean a Sig Trailside, but the European, "all-Hammerli" version. Larry's in Maine will have them soon and I'd love some real-world feedback from an owner. I realize the gun looks (and likely handles) basically identical. I'm looking more for the durability/functioning - the Sig's big ...

Kristin, you had asked about muzzle weight/balance... The IZH is known as being muzzle-heavy, as is the 717. Difference is that the IZH's grip helps you support it much better. I had a 717 and when I tried the IZH it at least "felt" noticeably less muzzle-heavy. The palm shelf at the botto...

Lubrication points on a Gamo Compact?

Just got a new one and the manual says nothing, other than that it should be serviced periodically by a gunsmith. So.... outside of the pivot points when the gun is cocked, where else would need to be lubed? I'm thinking mainly for the piston/seal. Perhaps just a light coating of Pelgunoil on the sh...

One nice choice no one has mentioned is the Benelli MP95. New is $699, but I've seen them used around the $500 pricepoint. I know of a few bullseye shooters that have retired their S&W 41's to the safe after shooting the Benelli. They're currently imported by Larry's in Maine, so parts and suppo...

I think it's a simple YES. Dry-firing will get you acclimated to the feel of the trigger. And by watching your front sight (for movement) you'll be improving your smoothness of pull and follow-through. If follow-through is an issue, I'd suggest an exagerated hold for an extra second or two after the...

As someone who just recently started to experience all this... All I can say is it is an odd feeling! I do the "equal space around the front sight" method. i.e. Centered in the rear sight and that same distance below the bull. I do a "check" of that, but then go back to sight ali...

I've lifted weights since my teenage years (I'm 35) and have had various other sports-interests over the years. One overriding "true-ism" I've found is that you can't be a master of all trades (or sports in this case). Going at the weights hard 4x week means you're going to be sore a good ...

Curious, would a dab of silicone or perhaps a seal-friendly oil like Crosman Pellgunoil be of any benefit before installing the seals? Perhaps extend the seal life? Just a thought.... Also, are you using Co2 powerlets (as opposed to bulk fill)? I remember hearing somewhere that seals wore quicker wi...

525 fps vaguely rings a bell as the "advertised velocity". I imagine with the lightest of pellets. Assuming you're using wadcutters and good-quality targets (Edellman for ex.), you must be REALLY down on velocity. My 360fps Daisy cuts crisp holes with ANY wadcutter and those targets. Thoug...

Nice thing too about the IZH, is that you can sell it at a minimal loss if you decide 10m AP is not for you. They're very popular new AND 2nd hand. I own a 717 (bought mainly as a basement firearms trainer) and have shot matches at a club level as well as some postal. It's adequate to get you going,...
