Re: Fresnel Lenses, Cataract Surgery, and Sight Picture
mhampel: sorry you're having issues. Frank in Fairfield: Thanks for your post. I've talked with a few F & Bench shooters at our range that had cataract surgery and did same as you. They've been very happy. I have cataracts, which are not advanced enough for surgery but does interfere with iron s...

Re: Simulating nerves in training
Good comments by rgibson. Makes notes in your diary of your thought process. Determine what consistently works best. Some mentally shoot each shot prior to the actual, but I prefer POSITIVE self talk and constant focus on conditions. You did not state if you were indoor or outdoor. If outdoor, a goo...

Funny there Mike.
Mine cannot be cleaned with a bore or hard brush.
An Olympic Shooter (Arkansas) told me to make sure that it's fouled good before a match.

Re: spotting scope question
I've a Vortex. While it's high quality, it still doesn't meet the quality of the Kowa.

Re: spotting scope question
A few months ago, I too compared my spotting scope to a Kowa. First comparison was in Memphis with one of the older Kowa models owned by one of the club members. Second comparison was at my local club when one of the guys from Louisiana had his 82 Model. He's primarily a High Power Shooter. Both are...

Highly doubtful, especially after he called a Kowa "Eurotrash."

Re: cheekpiece and head position
ScottJ Right Handed (Prone): I use an offset for both front/rear sights, (4mm to the left), plus a small cant with level on front sight but needed a Centra 10-50 Rear Sight with plenty of windage. Head fairly vertical, Master Class Laminated Wood Stock and Cheekpiece. MY LOP places me at the rear of...

I do not own a 64, but do know that Anschutz North America (Trussville, Alabama), offers a "64 Bolt Tuning Service." Go to their website and click on

Not the horizontal bar but the "cross" with aperture in the middle. Checking to make sure I worded the post clearly. ? ?
Thx Much.

Aperture Cross Bar
What is the purpose(s) of the front iris that has the Aperture Cross Bar (made by Gehmann & Anschutz) ?? I look at the Cross Bar and wander . . . why? why a Cross Bar ? Something to do with ensuring rifle is level without using a bubble level, vision, personal preference like scopes, etc.? Thanks.

Re: Anschutz 2013 New Barrel Install
This may be of little help but anyway . . . Never replaced a barrel but have the 2013 Anschutz barreled action. Came in the 2313 Stock, set torque per handbook with Anschutz torque wrench with weight of rifle, sold the stock several years later and got a Master Class Stock bedded by Sitman, torqued ...

Re: Handstops, Mine is "killing" me
ptf18, Had similar experiences but not that much pain -- just too much discomfort. Tried about 4 or 5 hand stops then realized needed one more narrow than what had tried but still long. Anyway, got the Champion's Choice CC2525 ($27.50), got a machinist buddy to reduce the diameter, to a size that w...

Re: Nerves, pulse etc in prone
I read something the other day that I thought was a more appropriate use of words we use to describe an increased pulse rate, profuse sweating, heavy breathing and maybe a sense of anxiety. The word commonly used to describe the above is "Nerves" or "Nervousness" and is usually ...

Re: Leupold 6.5-20 EFR VX-3 vs VX-3i
Thanks Odie! I’ll check it out. I’ve never been able to come to a good conclusion as to what’s changed. I heard one fella say they went down in quality, but nothing I’ve read supports that. Looks like they are a few bucks cheaper than they use to be because the don’t come with extra knobs...?? Chad...

Re: Leupold 6.5-20 EFR VX-3 vs VX-3i
Does anyone know the difference? One of these scopes has been on my list for some time and I have never gotten around to ordering one. I noticed the VX-3 is discontinued and the 3i is in production now. Hmmmm Thanks, Chad Chad, Short you tube clip below. I have the VX3i, got it from Champion's Choi...
