ADJUSTING THE PARDINI SP/HP TRIGGER This pistol is designed to have a two stage pull and most shooters who take the time to get acquainted with a two stage system end up liking it and doing better than with the American "High Standard/Model 41 " trigger. To use a two-stage pull, you pull t...

Oops
So the pistol is .22 calibre - confirmed by scerir and Spencer. So the shot hole must be .22 calibre. Wonderful how I can lead myself astray when I don't gather all the facts :-( Still, a most interesting pistol. Apparently no under-barrel recoil dampers of the style fitted to the Pardini used by Sc...

further
Upon further examination of the image, I conclude that the shot hole is in the ten-ring, but it is not an inner ten.

Comment on pistol in photo
From the monitor behind the shooter showing a rapid fire target, the inner-ten shot hole looks to be of centre-fire calibre - if the target is at 25m (if the target is closer, it could be a .22 hole). That is a monster size magazine though, just to be .22 caliber!

Constriction in HP barrel
Any chance that the constriction is merely a build-up of lead that could be removed by vigorous cleaning (bronze brush or electolytic cleaning)?

Whizzing
Well, here in Canada (again), we think we are doing really well to have returnable targets (clothesline) for Air Pistol and Rifle at our big matches (including the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix). Most have hand cranks, some have electric motors to do the winding. Yes, there are lots of targets whizzing...

Gauges
I've never seen, let alone used, an outward scoring gauge. Inward scoring gauges (plugs) are readily available in North America, as are inward scoring overlays, so they tend to get used at local matches. Even at 'high level' matches, such as the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix and the Canadian National P...

Scoring air pistol
If you are shooting to ISSF rules, it seems the outward gauge is used for scoring rings 2 to 10 (6.7.15.6) and the inward gauge is used for scoring inner tens and ring 1 (6.7.15.4).
I didn't know that; I just looked it up now.

Price of Margolin/Toz
US $500 translates (converts) to about $560 Canadian. A not unrealistic price for a used TOZ-35 here. I paid $500 Cdn for mine two years ago and there was another for sale at that price in a gun shop in Surrey. The Margolin, Vostok, and Toz names seem to have been used interchangeably at times. I re...

ISCH
Nice shooting, indeed, but interesting to note that the top junior, Lukas Grunder, not only posted a higher score for the 60-shot match than any of the 'senior' shooters, but also fired a perfect 100 on one target.

Test velocities
Interesting that some of the tested brands do not make (on average) the minimum 250 m/s velocity required for 25 m Rapid Fire - although all except the Eley Blue Pistol Match have, in the sample tested, at least one shot that exceeds the minimum. A couple of brands are marginal and another test samp...

Blazer and firing pin
OK, I'm an old dog but I want to learn new tricks! Would someone explain, please, why Blazer is more likely to break an SP firing pin than standard velocity ammo, and why it is deadly to the person next to the SP? I've had broken firing pins (but not yet in an SP) and no danger to anyone resulted - ...

Activity in BC
Sadly, not many ISSF pistol matches in BC. The best activity is a twice yearly (March and November) airgun match (rifle and pistol) sponsored by the Richmond Rod & Gun Club and held at Sportstown in Richmond. The match is three full courses of fire - two on Saturday and one on Sunday - but no fi...

Plugging vs overlay
Another aspect is that a challenge costs money ($20 at one of the Canadian National Championships), so I want to be really confident that I think a shot is "in" before I put up my money and challenge the score. My eyesight is poor enough that I need a magnifying lens to make even a cursory...

Scoring with aids
Perhaps it is helpful to explain how scoring is carried out in Canada at ISSF matches (at least to the National level): Except for the 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol event and for the Finals, scoring is done by the competitors. A competitor does not score his own target but rather that of another competitor...

David,
I don't know what constitutes an "Eagle Eye" in GB but the ones sold here are definitely an "engraved gauge of some flat, transparent material".

Dry firing AW93
Interesting to note that the manual for the AW93 seems to warn against using a dry-fire plug or snap-cap. To quote: "Dry-firing must be practised without buffer cartridge." Or is this just a case of incorrect translation into English. Perhaps it should read "can", rather than &qu...

AW93 ammo
Principally, I use Lapua Standard Club and Eley Target Pistol in my AW93, but I've also used PMC Scoremaster, CCI SV (paper box), and Federal 711. As the gun gets dirty, the 711 will begin to not fully chamber. The AW93 has a tighter chamber than my other target pistols and some Remington SV (green/...

Factory .32
Not all factory .32 S&W Long produces clean, round holes like that Lapua in Axel's photo. I have a 25-metre target on which I fired factory Fiocchi and some of the holes show tipping. I don't shoot factory loads as a rule, because of the cost, but I'm pretty certain I remember tipped holes even ...
