That's great information! USRA sounds like the people I need to get in touch with.

Thanks, Pinbuster. 90 years for rifle, 67 years for pistol: they must be doing something right! :-) Right now, I'm shooting with a friend and we're both closing in on the Expert rating for Handgun. (Yeah, the one that uses the big Bianchi AP target!) I at least - not sure about him - want to try for...

Postal matches?
I've been a pistol plinker for years but am trying to get more disciplined and systematic in my shooting. Currently, a friend and I are working on our Expert awards in the NRA Handgun category (the one with the big-bullseye Bianch target LOL!). Eventually I want to work my way through the NRA's Bull...

Pretty far!
Those are pretty good distances for air pistols! But then, air pistols are capable of more long range accuracy than most shooters realize.

Imported air pistol?
Dan, I didn't know they shot air pistol at 20 yards. Did you bring your own air pistol through customs, or use a club gun?

Re: Newbie's experience
Be prepared to try 6oclock and sub 6 aims until you find what works. Forget scores, perfect a pure process. To do that, dry fire in a proportion at least 4 to 1 of real fire is well worth it. regards Ed These are two things I really need to work on, Ed, thanks fir the ideas! By the way, are you on ...

Off hand, too
Whatever you do, I recommend you do it for the off-hand as well: you want symmetrical development.

Re: Compare basic free pistol and AP techniques
Would anyone care to venture a comparison? I find shooting AP in a postal league quite enjoyable. Firing a standard pistol for 50' free pistol in the same league is not much fun. I am considering purchasing a used free pistol but my next birthday will be number 80 so a long learning curve is not in...

ISSF RAPID FIRE Air Pistol?
I don't suppose it's an Olympic event yet - but I understand there is now an ISSF-sponsored rapid fire event for air pistol? I'm having a lot of fun shooting my Beeman P3 in the back yard. This is keeping me busy right now, I'm shooting cards in the 25 / 50 to 37 / 50 range. Just thinking about the ...

Re: .32 versus .38
Reading the posts to this subject, I think there is one item missing: why shooters favoured .32 instead of the .38? S&W offered a K series revolver in .38 and .32, get no .32 was seen on the range. Manurhin have produced a Match .32 revolver, tailored to ISSF rules, and with a shorted cylinder ...

Thanks!
I'm a life member of the NRA, but no other shooting organizations. I've been a pistol plinker for years, not a competitor. I've gotten interested in air pistol because of the low noise, low cost (I can shoot in my own backyard!). Want to see how good I get at plinking, postal matches, NRA badge qual...

I'm in NOLA!
I'm in NOLA, Steve! I hadn't known they ever had a range in Jackson Barracks. That whole area was devastated by Katrina, of course.

No. 4!
I'd go with No. 4, since rapid fire pistol is what I was thinking of when I posed the question.
But I'd also add, "air pistol".

Aye, to K-32!
I'd purchase a 6" target model! I already have a .32 Colt New Police (2 inch), and the Ruger SA .32 Mag.6string wrote:Mike,
perhaps reviving the k-32 in several guises, (ie. target model, concealed carry model, small game model) might make the idea more financially viable.

Too bad!
All of the 32 auto's are ISSF after thoughts built on blowback 22 and are really pushing the limits with low power wadcutters. It would be a different story if Centrefire was an Olympic event you might see a lot more development happening. And finally, whatever the cartridge, there is the issue of ...
