Re: gun choices for .22 target
The Hi-Standards and Smith 41s are fine shooting pistols, but could never compare with a Pardini. Mainly because the bore of the barrel in the Pardini is very low and almost along the axix of your arm resulting in very low recoil torque. Secondly, the two stage trigger is absolutely the best.

Re: New target shooter looking for gun recommendations
Any of the three guns you mentioned would work well. I've competed with them all. Accuracy wise, it would be hard to discern any difference between the three. It boils down to ergonomics and trigger. The Ruger and the Buckmark will require trigger work to get the best performace out of them I've don...

I've had excellent results with RWS Meisterkugeln. They are clean and consistent. I have also used H&N Pistol Match 7.65 gr and RWS R10.

Re: Which is a better 10 M match pistol
If I were an Olympic level shooter, I would choose a Steyr purely because of it's history and reputation. If a club level or thereabouts, I would be more flexible because of availability and cost and would expand my choices such as Steyr, Morini, FWB or maybe some others. Don't forget, it's the indi...

Re: Ice or no ice in your Bourbon?
I went on a tour of a bourbon distillery. Afterwards, there was a tasting. The bartender let us taste some straight whiskey. Then, she put ONE drop of water in it. There was a DRAMATIC change in the taste! I couldn't believe it. Soooo, try it both ways and see which you like better. I like mine with...

Re: 10m Olympic shooters Use compact or standard Length?
Then let me throw this out to you. Why not a short barreled pistol with a front sight extension that is equivalent to a long barreled gun? I maintain that the shot time with a short gun will be more accurate, but the long sight radius will will make the shooter get better results??

Re: Winchester 52 D
I shot one of these in my college years on the ROTC rifle team. We had a rack of them and they were well used, but never had an issue with either one of them. Of course, the team armorer took care of them during the off hours. These are fantastic rifles, but their use is limited to 3 position or BR ...

Re: Rimfire vs Air - is there a "better" choice?
Son, you have to shoot the sport you like best. Air pistol will always be cheaper ammo, quieter, cheaper matches, and sometimes have the convenience of shooting at home. But if, like me, you LOVE precision pistol, A. P. will never quite satisfy. I've shot bullseye pistol for 35 years along with Int...

Re: Rimfire vs Air - is there a "better" choice?
I've had a thought bouncing around my head for a while about shooting choices. It was precipitated by my decision to go back to school after a few years out so I can get a M.S. or Ph.D., and on a grad student stipend, you can't really afford much in the way of luxuries. I like shooting, and I don't...

I had a Series 80 Colt Gold Cup. The trigger worked just fine. Sometimes I think this is a mental issue. You know it's there, someone told you it's a problem, so your mind works against you. If you are an accomplished BE shooter, you can do just as well with the crappiest trigger around.

Re: LP10 Compact popularity internationally
Why not put a front sight extension on a short pistol? Problem solved
In theory, it should work better because of the shorter shot time.

Re: I need a very reliable 22 for bullseye compitition.
I'm like you, an old 74 year old BE shooter. I used to shoot lots of bullseye starting with a High Standard Tropy, Smith 41 and eventually a Hammerli 208s. After 25-30 years of that, I moved out of state where target shooting was next to non-existent. So I sold everything (but kept the 41). A few ye...

OK, the best shooting, cheapest gun that performs well for 10M shooting is the Daisy 717. I used to shoot one in competition. It is capable of shooting some respectable scores.

If you can come up with $4-500, the FWB 65 or 80 is really fine target pistol.

Re: New to 10m air rifle
There are a lot of good recommendations here. I recommend that you get some competition under your belt, then look for a college that has 10M air rifle teams. You may qualify for a scholarship because these schools are always looking for good shooters. Texas Christian University comes to mind. You ...
