Was I so much different at 9 years old, when I tried to make every shot count? I don't think so. Daisy could make all thier guns shoot a whole lot better than they do, at a very small price increase. As I said though, I thought I was cool with a BB gun Winchester look-a-like!

You need to go back and look at the 753. When my son was shooting the 753, he used a standard sling swivel with a 1 1/4" military leather sling. The pin that would hold the swivel to the stud on a normal rifle, fits the hole at the end of the 753's forearm perfectly. He, and others after him, h...

I thought that the Sporter rules dictated that the sling had to be attached by conventional sling swivel. Am I wrong, or did they change the rule? Of course, I have found that Texas 4H rule interpretation is quite liberal, to say the least!

The instructor you speak of, has problems. Just because he has a rifle program in your county, does not stop you (or anyone else) from starting your own 4H rifle program as well. That way you can implement your own ideas in your own program.

I am glad that the Biathelon is still a recognized event. I was elated to hear that in Germany, it is the most widely televised sports event! I live in Texas, on the Gulf Coast, so snow is merely a fantasy. BUT, several years ago, I heard that Summer Biathelon was making inroads. I hope it continues...

Troy Bassham made a 3P video several years ago. It was slanted to the Sporter air rifle, but all the basics are the same. I thought it was pretty good.

The Daisy 1894 was sure a piece of junk! I was given one for Christmas, about 1966. (It's hard to remember back that far!) Yeah, I still have it, and a little league baseball pitcher could throw with more accuracy than this gun will shoot. Anyway, back then, I thought I was some more cool with a Win...

Linda,
Where are you located? I have coached youth marksman for about 8 years, but my start with competitive shooting began in 1967. If you are in my area, I could help.

2 of the kids in my program have bought this rifle. I asked my son to shoot it in prone after one young lady had all she could stand. My son is 18, and shoots very well. With the Federal Lightning, it would only shoot about a 3/8 inch group with 5 shots, but with the Wolf ammo he uses in his 1907, h...

CM2 Izhmash

We got a couple of the new Russian CM2 Izhmash jr rifles endorced by USA Shooting. Today, we did some testing on them, and my son, who normally shoots a 1907, put 5 bullets through 1 hole at 50 foot in prone. He was useing Wolf Match Target. It is a very attractive package for the price. Russian man...

Your results are not the norm, for this rifle. My son's 1907 shoots better groups with Wolf Match Target, than it does with Eley Tenex. You need to put the rifles in a vice, so that there is no way thayt the gun moves. No human error plays a factor then. You can use a large vice, with 4"X6"...

Accuracy is great with the 753/853, but cocking it requires quite a bit of strength. My son is now 18, I wish I had gone ahead, way back then and purchased an air charged rifle like the XS40. This is the rifle you need to go ahead and get. Your kids can use this rifle all the way until they are 20 y...

His scores are higher all across. Not sure if one is better than the other. I plan to look at his aperatures, and length of pull. Although I have not been able to find one thing that I can lay my finger on, I have got several ideas from yall. Thanks.

He shot 52 points higher, on a half course, with his air rifle versus his smallbore. That is a significant difference that is not a freak. Both of these matches were 3P.

For a chance? Like in a raffle? $5. The 40X was THE gun, for a while. but today they are more collector pieces than competitors. There were 90 competitiors at the NRA sectionals this weekend, and all the competitors were useing Anschutz and Walther, with a few Rem 540XR's thrown in, one CMP Kimber a...

FWB versus Smallbore

My son shots the FWB P70alu, really well. In fact, he shoots it much better than the Anschutz 1907 he has. He claims it is the weight difference, yet when I went to the FWB and Anschutz website, the guns show to be about the same weight at 4.8 KG. I told him it made be the distribution of the weight...

I have pillar bedded 2 of my son's other target rifles, and never seen a difference in performance. I felt like it was just one more varible taken out of the equation. I like the pillar bedding over the conventional bedding, but realize that a target rifle that should never get the stock soaked with...
