Moving the finger
Isn't this what field target shooters call "milking the trigger?" Granted their triggers are much lighter than 500 grms, but it could still lead to a premature shot with our 500 plus gram triggers. Sliding your finger up and down on the trigger to find your desired trigger engagement posti...

Army Quals
I don't know about you boys, but when I qualified with the M-14 it was raining and overcast, the range was in the woods, and it was soooo dark that it was hard to see the silhouettes against the background. I missed expert by 1 pt. The range NCO made me wear my steel pot and the water was dripping o...

Timer
I use a time and loosely refer to it. I use it to make myself slow down and not rush my shots. Once you develop a rhythm you hardly need refer to it.

AIR PISTOLS HAVE NO RECOIL
Not to muddy the waters with anecdotal evidence instead of empirical data, when I dry-fire my Pardini K2 air/Nygord compensator and do it right, the sights just don't move. When I fire a dead-nuts deep 10 the sights move a little. Is this the hammer strike on the valve or the release of gas on pelle...

Don,
Are you still smoking?
Ideally, not smoking goes along with diet when trying to limit things that could adversely affect on match performance.
Steve, Bruce, ED,
How many top shooters are smokers?

Ok Shooters which spring air pistol do you still own shoot?
I never owned a spring piston air pistol. I started with a Crosman MKII. The MKII is no more, I sent it away to Tim at Mac1 and it is now a hot LD silhouette pistol. It also works great on rabbits.

Trigger Mod
I went the easy route. I dremeled a trigger blade from a jigsaw blade, and used JB Weld to stick it on the side of the normal trigger. After that set, I gooped some more JB Weld on the surface and surrounding bits. I let that set for a few hours, then shot 30 or so shots, imprinting the shape of my...

How to roughen up grip surface?
I purchased a Vitarbo grip for my Pardini k2 some time ago. I got it oversized and finished it myself. To stipple it I used a Sears engraving tool. The engraver I have has an adjustable speed setting and you can replace the tips as well. Adjusting the speed helps to control the depth of the stipple....

NASSA
Richard, I joined NASSA when I first became serious about Air Pistol. I purchased a Tau-7 and started to practice. The monthly match format with pre-printed stickers prevented score inflation and it permitted you to see how well you were doing relative to the other participants. The initial feedback...

Grip finishing
Stippling. I have done a number of grips and find that an ingraving tool such as the craftsman tool Sears sells works just fine. It has an adjustable setting so you can set the depth of the stippling for the piece of wood you are using. It looks like factory work.

Shooting Stance subject to change
David, I couldn't agree more. I tried the footprints on the line thing to start my stance for the same place each time. It didn't work. All you have to do is close your eyes and let your arm come up naturally with no pressure from either side. You will see that at any given point in a match or pract...

Trigger squeeze; control; or what ever else you call it
Rob,
As is usually the case, there is certaining more than one way to approach this aspect of shooting.
I would just like to provoke Russ into either posting useful comments or getting the @#%% or of Dodge.

Trigger squeeze; control; or what ever else you call it
Russ, I am really getting tired of wading through the crap you have been posting. It is reminisent of he who shall remain nameless who used to post here but was asked to leave. What we want here is what you would say to a shooter about trigger control, for example: After attaining proper hold and co...

Center Hold Etc.
MSC, The one thing I never do in my shot preparation is focus on the front. It can easily get to be a bad habit. As I raise my pistol I focus on the rear sight until the front sight comes into view. I use sub-six hold and set up the spaces between the post, rear sights and bull with the bull fuzzy a...

Grip/stock pistol rules
I looked at picture #5 and see that it is more in perspective, but it still looks like the grip protrudes beyond the wrist joint. If you look at photo 5, you can see that the grip does not extend to a point beyond the wrist joint: http://schiessportinfos.sc.ohost.de/galerien/luftpistolenschuetzen/1f...
