Hello all
First thing first, I'm not planning on competing with air/small bore rifle,just trying out rifle shooting
I'm more of a pistol shooter
I have a Walther LGR and just acquired a Walther KKM 22lr rifle
They're pretty much almost identical, (the stock is slightly different)
But same sights, trigger, feel,and weight
I really like the idea that I can shoot air rifle and .22 with rifles that feels and fit the same
I have been watching videos on how to shoot those match rifles
Most of those videos shows a club shooter using a modern rifle
What I have are more "classic rifles" so a little different especially with the optics
I noticed that the sights use on modern rifles are set up much higher(from the bore axis)than my rifles and just wondering if this is something most shooter like better?
The reason I'm asking is because when I'm aiming through my rear sight my head is slightly tilted but on those videos I watch with modern rifle they look like their heads are pretty straight (not tilted)or am I seeing something else?
When using my rifles,I somewhat feel a little discomfort by tilting my head and putting pressure against my cheeks by the butt stock
Is there something I'm missing here?
Is it possible to add risers on my optics?
Any tips/info would be great

I am not holding myself out as an expert or a great shooter but I can tell you my experience. Height of a scope seems to depend on how you intend to shoot the rifle. Generally shooting in the standing position ( as in silhouette) scopes are typically mounted higher on the rifle. Some shooters even use extra high rings. I always did okay with standard high rings. Scope rings are generally available in low, medium, and high, and as I mentioned even extra high. Sitting and kneeling(back when I could kneel) I stuck with high rings.
Shooting prone is a different matter. I find that scopes mounted lower and more forward work better for me. I use a rail that mounts in the receiver grooves to be able to get the scope more forward and attach the rings to that rail. There I use low or medium rings.

Riser blocks are available for both scope rings and iron sights if you want to raise them. I use riser blocks with iron sights on my 10 meter air rifle. Higher sights help you keep your head more erect and generally more comfortable when shooting standing.

Play around with it and see what works for you. I hope this helps.

I was browsing "Champion's choice " and found riser blocks from Centra
They are for Walther air and small bore rifle
I'm assuming the dovetail size are the same as the older rifles?
Also if the riser are still not high enough I could get an additional set and double them up?
At this moment I'm only shooting standing

Yes, you can stack them if need be.
