Meshpro and Rink hand scan grip

Dear all,

I am considering ordering a new customized grip and have researched two brands that seem to offer high quality: Rink and Meshpro. Both companies allow you to send a scan of your hand. However, I have a question. Will this scan be used to create a grip that is truly tailored to my hand, or will it merely help in selecting from standard sizes like M, L, XL, etc.?

Thank you!

Both of them are custom made. Rink use wood. Meshpro are 3-D printed

Thank you for your response. I was asking because it seems that, according to the information on the webpage, a custom grip at Rink is only available for those who visit the location in person. I thought that the hand scan is used solely to determine whether the size is S, M, or L, without taking into account other measurements such as finger length. But if they take it into consideration that is good news :)

if you are in US - you can contact SportShootingDepot (local MeshPro and Rink dealer) to get the grips fast and to get all your questions answered.

Truly custom grip will require a trip to Germany and to book an appointment (~6 month wait). MeshPro does not have true custom option when you spend a day with a grip maker trying and fitting and trying again. The scan will get your base parameters (like size and thickness) but other adjustments are still on you to select

Here is what the Custom grip process at Rink looks like. Anything else they (and others) do is semi-custom grips which are a much better starting point than a standard OEM grip that only gives you a choice of size.

So in fact - Rink is much better because I can still make adjustments to the wood (remove/add), unlike Meshpro which allows no adjustment due to material they use.

Meshpro doesn’t make grips for all models and makers.

I have a Steyr evo 10 manual, and the grip it comes with (large), is not a good fit. The Long finger Large (LL), would have been much better.
Either way, the waiting list for Ring grips was about 6 months, for a personal visit and to order Meshpro online was 8 weeks, process appeared easier and they use AI tech to print a personalised grip. I use AI a bit so am comfortable with this tech.
I live in the UK, so trying to arrange a meeting for a grip in Germany, didn't seam possible due to work and family commitments.
I have ordered a meshpro and cost about €350, not the cheapest and hope it fits well. I'll report back when I get it and will give a brutally honest opinion.
I have since found out the national group I train with have a guy who customises grips with putty, and apparently are brilliant, would have been a much cheaper option, so will see if that happens as well or if he amends the meshpro grip if not perfect.
In short, I'd recommend to ask around any ex-pro athletes who maybe at your club/group/team who can amend your grip for free with putty and will take the time to do this. By ex-pro, I don't mean guys who think they know, but guys who are trained as coaches or have a proven track record at ISSF, World, European etc level.... otherwise they may ruin your grip if they are just going to 'give it a go'.
Also, if you may sell your gun, then get another grip to customise, no one wants to buy a second hand gun with a customised grip, unless it's a low price.
I'm not an experienced pistol shooter, in my opinion, but learning a lot on my journey with 10m pistol.
Will let you know how the meshpro goes, hopefully will get end of April.
Best wishes
Bret
