COLO SPGS, CO (Oct. 9, 2024)—USA Shooting athletes earned 10 medals, including one world champion title, at the 2024 ISSF Junior World Championships Sept. 26-Oct. 7 in Lima, Peru.

Over 30 rifle, pistol, and shotgun athletes competed at the prestigious competition. Athletes qualified for the team through selections matches earlier this year. Among the 10 medals earned is Braden Peiser’s gold in Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, making him the 2024 Junior World Champion.

“It is a bit surreal,” said Peiser about his big win. “I have been in a lot of finals and quite a few international finals. I was enjoying this final and the chase. It was fun sitting in second or third and knowing I had some work to do.”

This year’s competition is the fifth Junior World Championships Peiser has competed in and his first individual gold medal. Peiser also earned bronze at the 2024 competition in Men’s 10m Air Rifle and silver in Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team.

In fact, USA podiumed in several team events this year. Five of the medals earned were in team events to include bronze in Mixed Team Skeet, gold in Men’s Skeet Team, bronze in Women’s Skeet Team, and silver in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team.

Along with Peiser’s accomplishments, individual medals were earned by Katie Zaun, bronze in Women’s 10m Air Rifle; Gracie Hensely, silver in Women’s Skeet; and Benjamin Keller, silver in Men’s Skeet.

Keller, of Johnstown, Colorado, has been racking up his ISSF World Championship medals. He earned gold in Men’s Skeet at the 2022 and 2023 competitions. Keller, who is just 19 years old, has over 10 international medals and is looking to compete in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The world champion team athletes also made a handful of appearances in finals. Griffin Lake, of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, shot in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Position final where he finished in sixth place. Tyler Wee, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, joined Lake in the final and placed eight.

Karsyn Ross, of Seguin, Texas, and Madeline Corbin, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, both competed in the Women’s Skeet final where they placed sixth and fifth respectively. See official results here. Keller and Fayth Layne, of Columbia, Tennessee, competed in the Mixed Skeet Team bronze medal match where they placed fourth.
