Morini 162 MI fires when closing lever

Hi,

I purchased a Morini CM 162 MI and occasionally when closing the lever, after loading a pellet, it fires when closing the lever. I thought my finger might be touching the trigger, so I started recording my hand on video and my finger is NOT accidently touching the trigger. It has done this about 12 times in the past 8 months, for both myself and my son. Thoughts? Are Morini's known for randomly firing without pulling the trigger?

162 MI is a mechanical trigger, sounds like yours has the sear set too fine
and dropping off with movement or vibration.
Trigger needs to be re-set by someone who knows what they are doing.
Sear engagement needs to be increased and trigger weight checked (1st & 2nd stage).

David M has it right. The sear can wear over time and lose reliable engagement, or it may have been set too close to start with.

It's an easy fix if you know what you are doing. The typical recommendation is to cock the pistol, and slowly reduce the sear engagement until it JUST fires. Then increase the engagement by 1/16th to 1/8th of a turn of the screw. That should provide enough margin to operate safely.

Here's a previous post with very nice instructions on how to adjust the 162 MI:

The catch on the 162MI is that you have to remove the trigger assembly from the frame in order to get to the sear adjustment screw.
