USA SHOOTING ATHLETES KICK OFF CAT GAMES, EARN THREE OLYMPIC QUOTAS

COLO SPRGS, CO (Nov. 8, 2022) – USA Shooting athletes have earned three U.S. Olympic quotas for Paris 2024 and eight medals in the first few days of the at XIII CAT Championship in Lima, Peru.

Suman Sanghera, a 17-year-old junior athlete, earned the first U.S. Olympic quota in Women’s 10m Air Pistol after taking home gold in the event.

Dania Vizzi earned the next U.S. Olympic quota in Women’s Skeet after she placed first in the event. The two Women’s Skeet quotas for Paris 2024 are now fulfilled. The first was earned by Sam Simonton at the 2022 World Championship.

Dustan Taylor, a soldier in the Army Marksmanship Unit, earned the U.S. an Olympic quota in Men’s Skeet after bringing home gold in the finals.

Taylor went on to earn another gold medal with the other members of the Men’s Skeet team, Christian Elliott and Ben Keller, after they beat Chile in the finals.

USA Shooting’s medal count doesn’t stop there. The Women’s 10m Air Pistol Team, Suman Sanghera, Alexis Lagan, and Sandra Uptagrafft, earned gold after facing the top teams in the finals.

The Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team also earned some hardware. Nick Mowrer, James Hall, and Anthony Lutz placed second, bringing home silver medals.

Mowrer, a soldier in the Army’s World Class Athlete Program, also took home a silver medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol individual event.

Lagan doubled her medal count by earning silver in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol individual event.

Caitlin Connor competed against Vizzi in the Women’s Skeet finals and earned bronze.
