USA Shooting stole the show at the 2022 Cyprus Shotgun World Cup, March 8-19, after walking away with seven medals, the highest of any nation at the competition.

Both the 3-man and the 3-woman skeet teams earned silver, the two mixed skeet teams earned silver and bronze, the women’s trap team finished second, Austen Smith took third in women’s induvial skeet and Rachel Tozier walked away with a bronze medal in women’s individual Trap.

“The team did amazing,” said Jay Waldron, the national shotgun coach. “This was definitely one of our best performances and a great start to the year.”

Ida Brown, from Valley Spring, California, made her World Cup debut in Cyprus where she earned a silver medal in the 3-woman trap team event.

“I wasn’t expecting to medal so this is still so surreal,” said Ida, a Hillsdale College shotgun athlete. “Hillsdale’s partnership with USA Shooting is the reason I shot bunker in the first place. My coach, Dale Royer, helped me a lot.”

Adam “Colt” McBee also competed in his first World Cup where he won second place in mixed skeet with Caitlin Connor, where they shot a perfect series, and second in the 3-man skeet team with Phillip Jungman and Hayden Stewart, who subbed in for Vincent Hancock.

“This experience was absolutely incredible,” said McBee, the Bangs, Texas, native. “The most important thing to me was getting to represent my country at the highest level and wearing red, white, and blue.”

Jungman, a Sgt. in the Army’s Marksmanship Unit, earned third in mixed skeet with Smith and second in the 3-man skeet team

“Winning two medals was big for me because this was my best performance internationally,” said Jungman, a 2020 Tokyo Olympian. “My AMU teammate, Hayden, got to step up in the team event because Vinny was sick. He helped us accomplish the goal of the team medal.”

The winning teams consisted of Jungman, McBee, and Stewart who won silver in the 3-man skeet team, Dania Vizzi, Connor, and Smith who placed second in 3-woman skeet team, Connor and McBee who earned silver in mixed skeet, Smith and Jungman who won third in mixed skeet, and Brown, Tozier, and Aeriel Skinner who won the silver medal in the 3-woman trap team event.

Up next for the shotgun team is the Lima, Peru, World Cup March 29- April 6.
