Hoping I can get some feedback on the thickness of the stock grips of different manufacturers. My hand is only 92mm (medium/large) across the knuckles, but I have long fingers, so I find that my fingers usually wrap too far around the front of the grip. I have owned pistols from Walther and Steyr and find the Steyr LL grip fits me very well due to the added thickness, but I might not buy a Steyr this time around. For those of you who have experience with many of the top brands, could you share your experience? I realize a Rink grip or adding putty to an existing grip is the most common solution and I might get a Rink at some point, but I’d like to find out which stock grips run a little thicker. Grip is such a personal feel. Just a few mm here and there makes a big psychological feel difference.

Rink does an excellent job guesstimating your personal fit. But even he is guesstimating your fit.

Play with your stock grip and trust yourself. Now, if your have longer fingers, trigger position could be moved forward, and you can add LITTLE 1-2mm putty thickness to your flat front grip groove area to compensate for your longer phalanx bones. You could also add 1-2 mm volume to the back of your V/U area, but too much putty there would make your thenar eminence bulge feel different.

But at the end of the day, it might be all in your head, trying to get that perfect grip.

A good shooter should be able to pick up ANY gun, with ANY grip, and shoot well. With that mantra, you will be a better shooter.

Pay for a Rink grip, and get that grip thing out of your mind. It is a piece of art.

I have Rink grips on my Steyr. I have a 93mm hand and here are what Large looks like. My middle finger is 92mm long. These are slightly longer front to back that stock Large Steyr grips.
