Two Top Ten Finishes for Gong, One Event Remaining
YanXiao Gong (Malibu, California) finished 10th place in the P3 Mixed 25m Pistol SH1 event Thursday morning at Tokyo’s Asaka Shooting Range, barely missing finals qualification.
Gong’s combined precision and rapid qualification score of 563 was a mere three points shy of the 8th place finisher. His score includes a 0 in his second rapid series which, if scored, would have easily landed him a spot in the finals.
In 2019, Gong attended his first international competition where he fired an impressive 564 in this exact P3 event which earned the first and only pistol quota for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games for Team USA.
Gong will compete one more time in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event on September 4.
