I shot Bullseye and Air Pistol many years ago left handed. I’m left eye dominant.

Due to a physical limitation (Parkinson’s – my left hand has a tremor), I switched over to shooting with my right hand. I also shoot centerfire pistols, combat style, two handed with both eyes open. I do OK.

When I shoot my air pistol, I shoot right handed with both eyes open. My shots are to the left. When I shoot from a bench they are centered.

I know that shooting to the left has multiple user error related causes, but does the mixed dominance of my hand and eye contribute to the problem?

Cover up your right eye & see if it makes a difference. Plenty of people shoot cross-dominant & do very well. Two of the top collegiate shooters on the team I help coach were cross-dominant. One didn't figure it out until they were in their senior year, and she won plenty of awards both ways.

Of course, there are many different degrees of cross-dominance. I have a cataract in my left eye, so my right eye is very dominant. My wife (who shoots better than I do) retrained her eye dominance when she was on the pistol team in college by wearing an eye patch on her left eye for much of the day.
