Sight width question

Hi
I have a IZH 46M, it came with a few options for setting up different sights.
As new it is set up so the front sight is just slightly smaller than the rear, meaning when it's centered there is very slim light bars on either side of the front sight.
I was comparing it to a .22 I have and those sights are basically in thirds. One light bar, the blade then another light bar all about the same width.
I'm sure alot is personal preference, but is there a suggested setup for an entry level shooter ?
Or maybe it doesn't matter.
Thanks, Tom
