Day 1 of Men’s Rapid Fire Pistol and Women’s Air Pistol is in the books on Leap Day 2020. There is one Men’s Rapid Fire Olympic Team spot that is set to be announced at the conclusion of Pistol Trials Part 2 on Sunday, March 1.

There’s one Olympic Quota on the line in Men’s Rapid Fire. Keith Sanderson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) laid down a 581 on day 1 of Rapid Fire to retake the lead in the Olympic Selection by just 2 points. Henry Leverett (Bainbridge, Georgia) is right behind Sanderson. With two full courses left of fire plus a final, Leverett can certainly catch him during tomorrow’s competition. Going into day 2, it looks to be a two horse race for the one Olympic Spot already making tomorrow’s match exciting to watch.

Unfortunately, there are no Women’s Air Pistol Quota Sports. However, we are still forming a ranking list for the Olympic Selection in the case we were to earn one down the line. This match also serves as the Spring Selection Match for future international competitions this year, so there is certainly something to be had for the competitors involved.

Katelyn AbeIn (Douglasville, Georgia) is in the lead by 1 point over the Women’s Sport Pistol Olympic Athlete Alexis Lagan (Boulder City, Nevada). Third spot going into day 2 is tied up at 564 with Nathalia Tobar (Columbus, Georgia) and our other Sport Pistol Olympian Sandra Uptagrafft (Phenix City, Alabama).

Both finals will take place tomorrow. One alternate in Men’s Rapid Fire will be named.
