Connor and Rhode Tied For Lead at World Cup Final
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 11, 2019)
Eight shotgun athletes representing Team USA started competition on Friday at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup Final in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. World Cup Final competitors are invited to participate based on their international accomplishments during the preceding year.
Tied atop the women’s skeet leaderboard are Americans Caitlin Connor (Winnfield, La.) and Kim Rhode (Monrovia, Calif.) with identical scores of 74/75. Amber English (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tied for third with 72/75 and Samantha Simonton (Gainesville, Ga.) tied for eighth place with a 71/75. Competitors will face 50 more targets on Saturday to set the finals field.
In women’s trap, Ashley Carroll (Solvang, Calif.) and Aeriel Skinner (Jackson, Calif.) finished day one hitting 71 out of 75 targets, good for fifth place and three points out of the lead held by Australian Laetisha Scanlan.
In men’s skeet, Vincent Hancock (Fort Worth, Texas) ended the opening day tied for fourth with a 74/75 performance. Teammate Christian Elliott (Greenwood, Ind.) shot 69/75 to tie for 16th.
