Which color Steyr EVO

Hi! I narrowed the choice for my new AP down to a Steyr EVO. The only choice I find very difficult is the color of the frame. Are there (apart from my own taste) any advantages in choosing a black over a silver frame (or vice-versa).

I can imagine that black maybe gives less reflections in bright light, but on the other hand the black shows marks much better than silver (a bit anal about that). The silver still is coated isn’t it?

So apart from asthetics (do like both) are there any functional differences?

Kind regards Tom!

You can't see frame and cylinder when shooting, reflections may just bother other shooters (a positive?).
I have a black Evo10 and the coating is not the common gun blue-ing, but (no idea about the actual process) some sort of thick matte anodizing.
I can't see fingerprints when handling it, and I am anal as well.

Thanks! Can imagine the coating is much /more durable than the coatings on the old LP1 I had. That had some bare alu coming through on some sharp edges.

After having the same dilemma as you, I finally selected an all black EVO10E - and I could not be happier.

The AP is black chromed and looks very classy indeed.

I have had 2 all silver Steyr LP10s before and having something different is nice too.

One thing that slightly bothered me about the all silver EVO is the lack of uniformity of colour - some of the rear sight, and other components, are of a different shade of silver.

It wouldn't bother a normal person, but slightly bothered me.

The all black EVO does not suffer from this malady - and exhibits the same rich, classy hue throughout.

Whilst I got an all black EVO10E., with black cylinders, in my opinion the best colour combination is a black EVO with silver cylinders.

Choose the colour combination that YOU like the best.
The psychological advantage (of proudly owning the gun YOU want) will always outweigh the physical advantages (of one colour over another) because there are none.

Get the all BLACK Evo10E
Much MORE accurate than the mundane silver ones

That’s just the problem! I like both of them. Was hoping for some ‘physical’ differences which would make my choice easier.

Certainly helps! I am also a bit anal about unformity! Gonna look for a black one! With a silver and gold cylinder.

Color theory dictates that the pistol frame must be complementary to the color of the shooter's nearest garment (shirt) and analogous to the color of the shooter's car.

I trust that answer ends the discussion.

This is true. The factory specifically engineers the black ones to be more accurate.

The ones that fail the accuracy test are then coated in cheap silver and sold (Normally to unsuspecting shooters with delusions of Olympic Gold).

I've heard that, "Black is beautiful." YMMV
