Walther LP500; any good?

Ok, so there was lots of speculation about this pistol in a previous thread, but precious little impressions by those who actually bought one. If you own a LP500, are you happy with your purchase?

Amazing gun with lots of adjustability and very nice engineering. Downside is the price and it comes with only one cylinder.

It appears to have sufficient farkles to enable the purchaser to buy quite a few points.

my personal opinion, saw them at shot show, got to dryfire one alot , could find nothing wrong with it, just did not "speak to me".. Bought K12 instead..

I am getting mine tomorrow from Joe Hein at Elite Sports. I will post once I shoot it. I was told the crazy high price for the cylinders is not so bad because they can be sent in and tested to get another 10 years out of them for a total of 20 years total.

Many thanks to those who have shared their experiences. Yes, the LP500 is expensive, but so are BMW's from Germany. As for the Walther LP500 value for money; please give us your thoughts?

seems like the LP400 had a bad reputation for cylinder problems in germany and LP500 follows in it;s steps for now

The competitor next to me at a recent tournament told me he really strongly disliked his. But he outshot me by close to 40 points. So there is that. I think he called it a pig. But it was certainly accurate enough, and the ergonomics looked fantastic.

That German thread was an interesting read, including a claim that many of the parts are being manufactured in Asia (really?). My biggest frustration with the LP400 was that it would seldom hold the trigger weight; always had to readjust it. Hopefully, Walther have fixed this with the LP500?

Not sure where you live, but in the USA I got my Walther LP500 through Joe Hein at Elite Shooting Sports of Montana. They service what they sell. I received mine within a week of placing my order.

Frontier Firearms is the distributor for Australia (my location). My concern about the LP500 is that if I need it to be more than 1,000 g, there's nowhere to pack the additional weight without attaching a weight bar; not ideal unfortunately.

I am not sure what you mean. If you unscrew the air cylinder you can see where you can attach several weights.

Page 35 shows how you can add weights to the higher-end models that have barrel shroud.

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I'm well aware of how to add the 10 g weights (up to four maximum). That would bring the total pistol weight to 950g (910 + 40). What I'm suggesting is that if you need the pistol (c/w medium grip) to weigh more than 950g; you're out of luck. Only option is to attach a weight bar.
