I am looking to buy a lp10, I like to looks of the silver but wonder if there will be a difference in sight picture with the silver vs the black.
( will there be a difference with light refection with one vs the other ./ will there be a difference in sight picture between the Sliver and Black )
Thanks Aaron

I had the same issue when I was pondering buying my LP10.
When you sight down the gun, the only thing that you see is the rear sight (black) and the front sight post (also black). Everything else is obscured by those and your hand.
You might see a little of the handle that opens the bolt, but that's also black.

I handled and shoot both before I bought mine (silver).

Hope this helps

I recently had one of each, shot them side by side a few times and couldn't tell a difference. My guess is that black will show wear more (nicks or scratches would contrast more) if that matters to you.

Kind of what I was thinking but having never shot either one thought I'd check with the experts.
Thanks Aaron

It makes absolutely no difference between black and silver. I shoot both , I personally own a silver LP10 and fired a black model many times, and never faced any issue in terms of visibility of front sight or sight alignment as far light reflection is a concern. Practically while shooting you will hardly see its color as your grip will cover most of it and if you really start noticing the color , that means you are not paying attention in the front sight or SA. Apart from appearance there is no difference between black or silver models

Moreover in terms of sights visibility the LP10 is the best on the market.

Bingo! This is precisely what any Shooting Team coach would say. Well said.

I was mainly refering to any possibility of external light from above reflecting off the silver gun up and onto the front sight interfering with your sight picture, but it looks like that's not an issue.
Thanks guy for all of your inputs

You are discussing two types of reflection: 1) from the top surface of the gun onto the sights, and (more important) 2) any such light subsequently being reflected off the front sight post.

The silver finish is not polished, AND the top surface of the barrel shroud is rounded, so it can't reflect any more than diffuse light in any direction.

I don't know if this is still common practice, but when I was a regular competitor, I "blackened" my front sight and rear blade with sooty smoke from a camphor flame. So treated, the sight components would not reflect light striking them from any source. LOL, you could shine a 1 million candlepower light directly on sights treated with camphor smoke to no effect.

Get the Black one with a Black cylinder
Shoots much better than my LP400 in silver
You score/milage may vary

Get the black one, extensive machine rest tests prove that it outshoots the silver one.
10.9 ave. verses a 10.8999. :)

You guys are pathetic! If you don't believe me, just ask CPerkins.

He'll tell you of the glory of a well farkled gun, as exemplified by his Technicolor LP1!

It shoots groups HALF the size of your weenie choices.

So sad...

Silver. Black absorbs light and can weigh it down, I think Rover would agree.
