But that indicates that there isn't one model of gun that is clearly better than the others.Reinhamre wrote:That depends on what they like to shoot I suppose :-)

Surely that would mean that, with top level guns, it's the shooter that makes the difference.
Can that really be true ;-)

That old question has come alive again :-)David Levene wrote:But that indicates that there isn't one model of gun that is clearly better than the others.Reinhamre wrote:That depends on what they like to shoot I suppose :-)

I suppose it all depends what you are used to shoot with the first years, if it feels OK then why change?
Is the service OK where you live? Is the balance right, or can that be changed? Top guns shoot one hole in target all day!
Feinwerkbau P44 is not nose heavy so that can be a preferred by some shooters.

Re: Swedish Cup Live final NOW
If I am not mistaken, Steyr, Morini, and Walther, are the top three that have won the most medals in olympic airpistol history. Feinwerkbau, of course had the record wins in the 80's and was then dominated by Steyr and Morini in the 90's.
There must be some advantage over the other brands out there for top shooters to favor them. Kinda like F1, where Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams are the top three...

Re: Swedish Cup Live final NOW
Almost anyone with modern machine tools can make barrels that will shoot one hole groups. The question is whether the ergonomics of a given pistol will allow an individual shooter to extract that accuracy. The high end pistols provide a lot of adjustability in terms of sight options, balance, weight, grips & trigger settings. Even then, every shooter is different, and what works well for one person may not suit another. What is important is which pistol suits YOU, not whether it has won lots of medals.kevinweiho wrote:If I am not mistaken, Steyr, Morini, and Walther, are the top three that have won the most medals in olympic airpistol history. A lot probably also depends of what you start with, many shooters can't afford to buy more than one expensive pistol, and others may just want to work with what they are familiar with & not mess with getting used to a new pistol. Availability of service in the shooter's country is another big issue.
There are a lot of variables that have nothing to do with one pistol being "better" than another in any general sense.
Re: Swedish Cup Live final NOW
Usually the model chosen is the one the is free, initially. Then as a shooter becomes more skilled, they all are free, so they chose the model they like best, or the one that pays best. I purchased my first 2 air pistols, the FWB 65 and then the FWB 2. However, after that I didn't have to buy another one, at least until I was not longer on the team. At one time, Steyr was giving lots of pistols away, then Walther started giving their's away along with a little money as incentive to shoot them and more money if you won a big match. I have heard that Pardini may be an exception to this in that they do not give their pistol away. However, I have to imagine that if a top tier shooter wants to try a Pardini they can obtain one for an extremely reasonable price. Money talks.

Steyr and Morini pcp pistol designs are more than 25 years old. They’re still being used by top shooters and winning medals to this day. In my opinion, that is proof that their designs are superior, while other brands have been constantly upgrading their line of pistols. You are absolutely correct that every shooter is different and what really matters is which pistol suits them the best.Gwhite wrote:What is important is which pistol suits YOU, not whether it has won lots of medals.
