Hi guys, I have been lurking for a long time, I hope my English isn't to bad.
I'm a enthusiastic sport shooter from Europe (Belgium).

I have been shooting for 6 years and I finally want to make the big step, I want to buy a match pistol.
I've started with a Ruger MKIII competition and its upgraded with VQ parts and a Nill match grip.
Even with all these goodies it doesn't compare to a real match pistol.

I have been doing research for a couple of months but every pistol has his pro's and contra's.

I'm thinking between the Pardini SP or the Walther gsp expert.

Because of all the things I have read I really don't know heads from tails..."
I "just" want to buy a pistol which wouldn't disappoint me or of which I would regret buying it.

I'll be in Belgium in the Fall. The thought of good beer is drawing me like a magnet.

To be honest, I don't understand why a tweaked Ruger is not making you happy, but if you want a new toy, so be it.

Since I'm defining your price range by the Ruger, perhaps an older Walther would make you happy. They are very dependable and several US National Records are held by one.

Buy the Pardini SP
I have sold my 2 Smith & Wesson Model 41
The Pardini is much better
Better yet get the Pardini SP BE Edition
With the Nygord grip it is Great

Well I do understand!
I started with a Ruger Miii put a grip and changed the trigger. I WAS NEVER HAPPY!
Now I have a Benelli and feel much much better

I have both the Pardini SP and the Walther GSP.
I can say without reservation the Pardini is far better.
I can't say why exactly, both are good.
Then you will know why the Ruger is a starter pistol.

Bought my Pardini after I realized my starter pistol was holding me back. Best gun decision I've ever made. Rock solid dependable and absolutely predictable. Shot 12,000 rounds till I had my first malfunction, a FTF with a deformed CCI-SV round. Now have another 3,000 through and no second malfunction. I've spent more on ammo, entry fees, and related gear than the gun so feel the price is right for me.

Life is too short to spend it on Rugers. Go Pardini.

The tuned Ruger is a great gun, but I've shot a few times with a Hammerli 208, Unique 96 and a old GSP they all felt better.
It's not about a toy, I know I can do better with a match pistol, I've proven myself with a few of them.
The sights, trigger and balance are all better in them. Its the full package.

The only thing I don't like about the Pardini is the fact that it won't accept CCI standard. And my Ruger eats anything.

It's a shame nobody likes the Walther!

The BE edition is only for the US, you guys get all the nice goodies.

Mine likes CCI quite a lot.

Go with the Pardini, no doubt. You'll never look back.

I have 4 Pardini SP's, and all of them eat CCI Standard.

Try both the Pardini and the Walther, they are quiet different in weight distribution and grip angle. You have to find out what's best for you.

Changing to a Nill grip on the Pardini will get you closer to the same grip angle as the Walther also.

Both are reliable pistols that will serve you for many years.

The biggest problem is that I don't know anybody with a Pardini.
Also no dealer has a Pardini and a GSP expert in stock, so I have no chance in comparing the both on the spot.

How's the Pardini for parts failure?

I've had one broken firing pin since 1999 (2 pistols, first one 1999-2005, current one 2005-). Recommend changing recoil spring every few years.

Cesare Morini was NOT involved in the design of the CM22M.

Despite this, it is a still an extremely well engineered pistol worthy of consideration...

GSP is a bit of a dinosaur. No reason to get one over a Pardini so far as I can tell.

I bought a GSP however (1988 Manufacture - almost as old as me!) reliable and parts still in production attracted me to the design. I would have liked a Pardini; maybe later down the track (kickstarter, amirite?). They are hands down the best modern Standard Pistol in production today.

In sincere defense of the GSP Expert: Though a slowly-aging duffer whose scores have been drifting slowly-downward, I find that the GSP has been extraordinarily reliable and more than sufficiently accurate: I just finished the sixth, 27-match, season of league bullseye shooting with zero alibis…and only two failures-to-fire in practice, and one in slow fire, for which bad-round-luck enters the picture despite solid strikes. All matches are fired with CCI standard and some Remington standard. After every practice/match I quickly Q-tip the feeding ramp, the chamber, and chamber area, and then poke at the magazines. Occasionally I do the same thing with a Q-tip lightly moistened with CLP. And maybe once a year a more thorough cleaning. Happy camper.

There is a reason the vast majority of pistols in the Olympics are Pardini.

In the USA our best Pistol Shooter, Brian Zinns uses a FWB.
John Zurek uses a Pardini, used to use a Walther.
Emil Milev uses and works for Pardini.


It's a lot of money to buy a pistol without trying one.
I would contact your country's Competition Governing organization,
See if you can get a list of clubs, contact them and see if one has the pistols
you are thinking of buying and will let you try them.

Worldwide competition shooters are a friendly and helpful group.
