LP5 question NEW owner

Hi, I just bought an LP5 and the previous owner said it was running C02 but looking at the air cylinder the markings says 250 bar max fill.
Needless to say I am not sure if its indeed CO2 or compress air.
Was the LP5 made to use CO2 only or some used compress air? The cylinder does NOT have a gauge if that helps.
If someone can provide info I will greatly appreciate it so I can start shooting this awesome pistol.
Thanks!
Victor

If there is no mention of "Steyr Air" on the outside of your pistol, it is the CO2 version. For a CO2 version to function on air, you will need to purchase an air valve kit from Steyr.

The LP5 came in 2 versions; CO2 or Air.
The early air cylinders did not have a dial gauge but had a "pip indicator" at the front that came out as you filled the cylinder with air (many were de-activated over time as they tended to leak).
As far as I can remember, the only way of knowing whether a CO2 cylinder was full was to weigh it.
The "250 Bar" mark just shows that is the maximum safe pressure, not that you have to fill it to that pressure.
If the previous owner said it was CO2 then why don't you believe him.

Simple answer:
If it is air then the filling adaptor will have a male thread.
If CO2 the filling adaptor will have female thread.
You can't screw a CO2 cylinder onto an air adaptor or vice versa.
