That is some serious and impressive shooting.

Well, if he can split an arrow off a knife's blade any time he wants, why is his Olympic medal count so low?

Not everyone needs to compete to validate success.

Simple......Arrow splitting isn't an Olympic event yet.

Hitting a knife's edge is more difficult than hitting a ten. Anyone who can consistently do that (as the video purports to leave impression of) would have had no problem kicking butts of every living archer.

Success argument is also not convincing. As someone who is promoting a message (about lost techniques of shooting), he would have benefited from winning a few matches. If indeed, his shooting is as consistent and effortless, wouldn't a little gold medal add a little weight to his theory? From the video, of course, you don't see how many unsuccessful attempts were made before each stunt was filmed.

Here is a skeptical rebuttal (in the comments section, from 28 January, 2015 at 8:02 pm) from an Olympic bow shooting athlete, Richard "Butch" Johnson:

"Legit? Honestly? I’m sorry, I’ve been a National champion for around 7 years with a traditional bow. Represented my country and holder of countless national records. Your friend Lars is shooting arrows so fast, the only way he can do it is to draw his bow no more than 50% of it’s designed draw length. I have looked extremely closely and reckon, my best estimate is he’s drawing around 25lb weight for his speed shooting. This would barely scratch an enemy with a leather coat let alone puncture chain mail. Do you really think artillerymen wore armour for the look? They did so to remain protected against archers drawing around 150lb bows.

This video is pathetic unless you consider Lars a circus act. I challenge him to video a day with myself and other traditional archers shooting anything like a decent distance. Say, 90m, 185m etc.

Oh dear, poor "Butch" comes across like a child upset that someone else is getting attention. The video is just some novelty trick shooting, don't recall seeing any part where he claims to be better than Olympic archers or anything like that, just doing something different, not a lot different to Annie Oakley etc. Don't hear people moaning that she couldn't win an Olympic match!

Blindness is also a possible side effect.
