Fixing Tau-7's With Low Velocity

The MIT collegiate team has 18 Tau-7's & Jr's. Some of them are approaching 20 years of age, and in the last year, we've had three that have suddenly had a dramatic drop in velocity. Someone on this board also had the same issue. I put together a writeup on what's going on & how to fix it.

The problem is that the velocity adjustment screw can back out over time. As it does, the spring tension that keeps it set drops, and it unscrews faster & faster. Eventually, the point of impact will drop several inches over just a handful of shots. It's easy to crank the velocity back up enough to keep a beginning shooter happy. If you want to restore optimum accuracy, you need a rest of some sort and to do some experiments to set the velocity for minimum group size.
