Skanaker 88 cylinder rebuild info

Post by motorcycle_dan »

Looking for information on what is inside those cylinders. Anyone have one of the long cylinders they would like to sell?
I've got two but one is leaking at where it screws into the pistol as the rod opens valve. I'm guessing the seals inside are knackered and need replaced. Neighbor has overhauled one cylinder and has extra seals.

Cylinder rebuilt

Well that wasn't as bad as I thought. Built a hook pin spanner from an old honda shock adjuster tool and a roll pin. Put some propane heat on the ends and it rolled right off. new seals on the check valves on both ends. cleaned but didn't replace the end cap seals. The one I intially missed was the seal that was bad. The end that screws into the gun (not the fill end) has an o-ring seal. The square threaded end needs to unscrew and the seal replaced. I had to put more force on that than I was comfortable with. Used brass shim in a vise to clamp the square fitting then unscrewed the tube. Once free it was not a problem. Seal was noticably bad. Replaced with one from my generic o-ring kit and it seems to work fine. Might only last a month but it works for now.
