Thanks to a reply in my last post, I came across the very interesting articles written by Anatolii Piddubnyi.

I started following his instructions and my scores have gone sky rocket high!
I am never going below 90-92 and I got my first 96 (two of the nine were 9.8!).

I have done it for the last 3 training sessions…and I hope it is not a temporary improvement!!!!!

I have a question, regarding the third article, which can be found here:

I am loving having the trigger finger supported "a la Melentiev" with a piece of foam between the grip and the finger. My trigger errors have gone dramatically down.

But is it allowed in competitions? I have gone through the ISSF rules, and I have found no rules against it.

Does anybody know more?

Who else has found the trigger finger support useful?

it's allowed.

in short, there are only some rules for free pistol:

-it has to be a PISTOL using .22lr ammo, only 1 shot loaded at a time( by the way: what's the definition of a pistol? under 60cm?)
-it has to be held only by one arm and is to be fired by the hand that's holding it( no remote control)
- wrist of the holding hand must be movable and mustn't be supported by the grip
-it has to have open sights

trigger: yes, as long as you get over 500g.

Out of academic interest, would it be allowable to fit the foam pads after trigger testing and then inspect for for grip and pistol weight conformity?

Remember that pre-competition testing is entirely voluntary (but advisable).

As has been the case for as long as I can remember, it's the post-competition testing that's important; that's the one that gets you disqualified.

If the pads interfere with trigger , the load is going to increase, so there should be no problem with checking the pistol. Am I wrong?

As Spencer said, interference with trigger weight testing would be a problem.

Provided that they still allowed a normal trigger weight to be lifted by the trigger alone then there wouldn't be a problem.
