.45ACP portion of 2700

Are comp-ed or ported barrels allowed in the .45ACP portion
of the 2700 ?
My reading of the rules, is that is it ok. I know no one uses
them, but I have a chance to pick up a cheap 90's vintage
IPSC open gun in 1911 in .45ACP with a ProPoint Red dot.
I will eventually re-barrel it back to regular barrel.

There isn't an issue using them in NRA conventional pistol matches, but you'll probably find they're not very effective. With the lower velocities most of us shoot our loads don't develop enough gas volume to make the comp effective.

How cheap? There are many used Bullseye guns to be had, and it might be easier to just go with one of those.
The compensator will most likely lead up quickly with the lower speed bullseye loads, at least this is what I have been told, by people who have tried them.
The pro point red dot, is also rare on the line.

As said, comps and porting is useless in bullseye.

You have a better chance of seeing a mermaid riding a dragon than seeing a dragon gun in use.
To bad he could never get them in production.

Thanks for posting that video bdutton. I was offered the opportunity to try the dragon gun,I think in 2009, Which may have been the last time Ed was at Camp Perry.
I declined because of other things going on that day. Now, just for the novelty,I wish that I had.
I don't consider recoil to be that big of a issue with the 45. With the right spring, and a frame mount, my 45 has less recoil than my 9mm, and I still usually shoot better scores, with the lighter trigger on the center fire gun.

Actually....Ed is building me a Dragon gun right now....
But I digress. Comps are allowed but some competitors next to you might get mad at the extra noise.
