UltraDot Batteries.....Revisited

Post by mr alexander »

About a month ago, "big mouse" asked if it was okay to leave a battery

in an unused UltraDot sight for an indefinite period of time. Seems he was

concerned about potential damage to the sight from battery leakage. I

always use Duracell DL 2032's in my UltraDots. Curious about this issue,

I sent an e-mail to the folks at the UltraDot Warranty Service Center.

Following is their word-for-word response:

"No worries! You can leave the battery in for as long as you want. There

is no issue with the 2032's. We recommend the CR 2032, but the

DL 2032 is okay as well. Take care.

I have yet to see a CR2032 leak from storage in a scope.
Not to say it will not happen...
I had a Springfield Armory scope with a lighted reticle.
That one and only battery stayed in there for about ten years, never needed the back up battery in the spare compartment of the illumination cap.

When I sold it about 2 months ago I revoved both batteries and they were clean and were still good.

Just my .02 cents worth.
