Margolin .22 short rapid fire compensator removal ?

G'Day all,
Many years ago , I used to own a .22 margolin short rapid fire pistol and recently I have purchased another . My previous compensator simply unscrewed . This model looks like it has some sort of pin arrangement on each side but I am loathe to try knocking the pins out for fear of damaging it. They are not screws and cannot go all the way through the compensator as they seem to be located in the centre of the barrel ? Does anybody , by chance , have any knowledge of this type of fixing the compensator ?
Cheers,
John.
