Hey guys,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anschutz-Hook-B ... 0680076968
I was going to bid on this but the price got a little crazy, $710 , really?! Is that what there going for now...

The price seems way over the top, I agree. If you are interested, I could sell you mine, which is exactly the same, from an 1813 Supermatch, for approximately half that price. This would save you a lot of dollars, even with postage from England. Apologies if I shouldn't be saying this on this forum - hadn't really thought of selling until a moment ago.

Agreed - that's insane.
Alcohol fueled bidding possibly?
The seller must be ecstatic.
WOW!

$710!
That is insane! I have one of those on my 1813 supermatch and a simpler one on an older 1813 Supermatch.
Somebody really wanted one.

Watch and see if it's relisted. Very often in these situations the buyer welches on payment and it goes to a "second chance" runner up. If they decline, the seller relists.

Am I imagining it or was it similar to
this item.

Perhaps the US version was made of unobtainium.

Yep, the same, but often US e-bayers don't look overseas and vice-versa. When listing AHG things on e-bay, you have to list them as "accessories" and not "gun parts" or you can't sell & ship them internationally. I'm in the US and have bought/sold internationaly.... sometimes from "shootingemporium." I once sold an AHG palm rest and front weight set to a guy in France for $400. Euro was high, $ was low ... he got a good deal & so did I. The US bidders all dropped out at $250 & it ended up being between the Frenchy and an Aussie.
The buttplate assy from US that sold for $710 usually sells for $400-500USD. I suspect the seller may have sold it before the auction ended and had a friend "max-bid" it so he didn't have to deliver ... I've never done that, but have heard of people doing it. Or he had some international people bidding .... What you see may not always be reality... kinda like the bull in a nasty mirage.
More AHG on e-bay...

If you look closely at the original picture, looks like the buttplate is mismatched. The buttplate looks smaller than the mounting assy which would be an earlier mount with the later buttplate. If you tried to mount an earlier mount on a later stock, it won't fit. The stocks that used that type of buttplate were a bit smaller. Funny it would go for $700 not being matched.
Having someone up your bids is known as Shill Bidding and is banned by most sites.

Item has been paid for, delivered and funds made available. No 'Shill Bidding'. Insane, maybe. Reason for high bid not my problem.

The plates without the pull adjustment plates go over £150 here in good nick. £500 seems quite steep though.
