Paralympic Team Heads to Australia
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (November 11, 2011)
Paralympic members of the USA Shooting Team are gearing up for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup in Sydney, Australia. It is the last opportunity for athletes to earn quotas for the 2012 Paralympic Games. The USA currently does not have a quota yet, but looks to earn at least one through the MQS (minimum qualifying score) distribution system, and most importantly at the World Cup. National Paralympic Coach Bob Foth will lead a team of four athletes to the shooting ranges of the 2004 Olympic Games. The first finals begin on Monday, Nov. 14 where Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete Danielle Fong (New York, N.Y.) will take the stage in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 (R2). Fong also competes in both Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1 (R6) and Women’s 50m Rifle Three Position SH1 (R8). Teammate Sergeant First Class Josh Olson (Spokane, Wash.) will shoot alongside Fong in R6 and competes in Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 (R3). Nick Beach (Dresden, Ohio) will compete in Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 (R1) and is looking to secure his second MSQ in Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 (R3). Finally, fellow Resident Athlete Eric Hollen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will represent the USA in the pistol events—Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 (P1) and Mixed 50m Free Pistol (P4). For more information, please visit the Australian Federation’s website or the IPC’s result page for scores.
