Spam increasing

It seems to me we are getting a lot more spam lately and I've noticed the obvious spam posts are gettting several views. Are these spam posts of interest to some of our members? Are people actually going to the links? If those views are traced back to here, I guess that would explain more spam posts.

I hadn't noticed any more, but if there are it probably suggests our moderator is just a bit busy with other stuff, probably like his day job.
The key is to ignore them and don't click their links, they'll go away when they get nothing from it.

Actually, since they're posted by automated bots who've found a way in, they won't stop if no-one visits the links. They'll only stop when blocked (unfortunate inside info on this one, I run a few sites where I get to spend time fighting spam).
As for the views, maybe there are lots of people like me that just click on posts with the darker hyperlink (unvisited) and plan to read the title once in there. I'm guilty of this and have added a few "read" views to a couple of the spam posts.

Brian's take on using the links is exactly correct. Going to the link has absolutely no effect.
