What are the normal tournament fee's for say a 3-P 50 meter event?
I giving serious consideration to the idea of shooting some smallbore events this year and I am trying to put together a budget for it.
Thanks
Ron

Fees vary considerably depending on what you want to do. Simple club tournaments that aren't sanctioned by anyone (NRA, USAS, state associations) can be pretty affordable, whereas national championship registration fees have priced themselves out of range for many competitors. A couple of guidelines: Cover your expenses. At a minimum, you'll have the cost of targets and postage. You might have costs for heating/lighting if you have an indoor tournament. If you have sanctioning fees - money that you'll send to another entity - state those in the program. If you're going to give awards, pick a reasonable amount per competitor and segregate that money.
Now a couple caveats: Don't look at the tournament as a huge fund-raiser for your club. You're a host asking guests to come to your range, not a business providing a service for a fee. A few bucks is fine, but only a few. Don't go crazy with awards. Too many or too rich awards raises the cost of the tournament and may keep shooter away. The shooters are looking for competition, not a trophy. The Greeks gave laurel wreaths to their champions - why not follow their example?
All this said, bottom line is to keep the cost as low as you can. If you're not paying sanctioning fees, $25 should be enough.

State and Regional Championships are usually $40 for two days, $30 for one for adults, $20, $15 for juniors. Local matches vary. Our local club is $15 for adults, $8 for juniors. Big thing is how much you want to give out in awards.
