Two New National Trophies - Thanks to generous donations from two long-time competi­tive shooters who are both Distinguished Badge holders and who have been regular National Matches participants, two new trophies were re­cently added to the CMP’s National Trophy Col­lection. Both trophies are to be awarded in the National Trophy Pistol Matches and will replace older trophies that the CMP Trophy Committee determined were not of National Trophy quality.

Anniston’s Dixie Double a Success - The Inaugural Dixie Dou­ble Precision Air Rifle and Air Pistol Event surpassed the Civilian Marks­manship Program’s highest expecta­tions thanks to the turnout of several of the nation’s most talented competitors, outstanding marksmanship and a Sun­day rifle final that kept competitors and spectators riveted until the final shot.

But neither team is as central to this state's hard-working identity as one that draws virtually no specta­tors yet is exceptional on two counts. The Ledger (Lakeland, Florida) recently published an article titled, JROTC Teaches Integrity and Leadership, Ridge Com­munity's JROTC program showing enrollment gain - By Paula Stuart, LEDGER CORRESPONDENT - At Ridge Community High School, words such as "accountability," "unity," and "respect," are heard often, usually by faculty and students in the school's Junior Reserve Offi­cers Training Corps program. Far from being a turn off, these concepts are attracting students. Enrollment in the JROTC program has grown from 120 cadets at the end of the 2008 school year to just shy of 400 this year. CMP State Junior Directors. The CMP would like to welcome three new CMP SJDs: Bill Martin, Alaska Co-SJD; Matt Egloff, Montana SJD; and Carl Erickson, New Jersey SJD. CMP is currently taking applica­tions for the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Indi­ana, Kansas, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, and North Dakota. 2009 JROTC Postal Results. On 18 December all posted results will be finalized, and those advancing to the next round will be announced. CMP staff has been busy scoring roughly 8,600 target sets. Three-Position Air Rifle Schedule Released. The National Three-Position Air Rifle Council has just released a complete schedule of championship dates and locations for all 2010 events sponsored by Na­tional Council members. The National Three-Position Air Rifle Council 2010 Schedule of Events for Junior Three-Position and Standing Air Rifle is posted on the CMP website at http://www.odcmp.com/3P/Schedule.pdf. The schedule includes JROTC Service Championships at Camp Perry in February, the U. S. Army Junior Championship at Fort Benning in March, the National JROTC Championship at Anniston, AL in March, the National Junior Olympic Three-Position Championships at Anniston in July, the Na­tional Progressive Position Pistol Championship at Camp Perry in July and the American Legion Championship at Colorado Springs in August. The schedule also includes dates and locations for several other major champi­onships as well as for 2010 CMP Junior Rifle Camps. Junior shooting club and team coaches are encouraged to check out the schedule and get the dates of any championships they expect to attend on their 2010 planning calendars. JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course (JMIC) Mas­ter Instructor Workshops. The CMP is planning to conduct a se­ries of JMIC Master Instructor Training Workshops in 2010 in order to train new JMIC Master Instructors as well as to retrain current active JMIC Mas­ter Instructors who were originally trained in 2005 and whose certificates expire in 2010. The first 2010 JMIC Master Instructor Workshop will be held at Camp Perry, Ohio on 16-17 January, the same weekend as the Camp Perry Open air rifle competition. These two-day training sessions will thor­oughly review the JMIC curriculum that Master Instructors must use to train and certify new JROTC marksmanship instructors. The workshops also of­fer opportunities to practice the methods of instruction in the JMIC course and serve as a means of evaluating the current JROTC marksmanship pro­gram to recommend improvements. Actual experience in conducting an ac­tive JROTC or junior club air rifle marksmanship program is required to qualify to attend. The official program for the Master Instructor Workshops will be posted on the CMP website later this month. 2010 U.S. Army Junior Open Air Rifle Championship Entry. The U.S. Army Open Junior Air Rifle National Championship will take place 21-24 March 2010 at Fort Benning, GA. A link to the event and online registration is now posted on the CMP homepage or visit http://www.odcmp.com/3P/ArmyJrOpen.htm. The deadline for registration is 2 January and the deadline for returned targets is 22 January. Targets will be scored at CMP North Headquarters and results will be final on 8 February. The competition is open to both sporter and precision classes and will have both team and individual categories. Make sure to visit the CMP website and register as soon as possible.



2010 Camp Perry Open, Camp Perry, Port Clinton, OH. The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you to participate in the fourth annual Camp Perry Open. This year's match will include a three-position air rifle competition, an international air rifle (all standing) event, a pistol course of fire, and optional clinics at Camp Perry, Ohio. 2010 CMP Three-Position Summer Camps. Dates for the 2010 CMP Three-Position Air Rifle Summer Camps will be posted on the CMP homepage on 11 January. Registration will open two weeks later on 25 January.



11th Annual Palmyra Invitational. Registration is open for the Palmyra Invitational hosted by the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association in Pal­myra, PA. The event takes place over multiple weekends in January, so shooters can attend the weekend that best fits their schedule.
