colt series 70 vs series 80

I have a Colt MKIV Government .45 The slide is stamped Series 80. The serial number has the suffix "70B" which I think indicates it is a series 70. The original box says it is a model01970FS. SER.80 is handwritten on the box and the FS on the model number is circled. I think the transition year was 1983, purchase date was 8/27/83. I understand there was a firing pin safety change on these pistols. I also have another series 70 and can find no external differences. Is there any way to tell what I have? Any ideas, info? Remove the slide and look up underneath the firing pin. If you see an extra "plunger button" type device from the fire control mechanism in the frame, you have a series 80.
The plunger prevents the firing pin from moving forward in the slide unless the fire control pushes it up out of the way when the trigger is pressed.
