California target shooters alert

To all California target shooters:

Please click on the link below. It gives a very accurate summary of AB962 (better than the NRA summary), and it tells you how to contact the Governor. PLEASE contact the Governor and respectfully urge him to veto this horrendous piece of legislation. If it goes into law, it will make Olympic pistol, Bullseye and smallbore rifle shooting in California a mere memory. And, needless to say, it will have absolutely no effect on criminal behavior. Please do it today.

Thanks,
FredB

Thanks for bringing this thread to the top! The issue is still urgent and still in doubt. As the politicians say, "Vote early and often." In this case, call and/or email the Governor early and often.

Please contact Governor Schwarzenegger TODAY and respectfully urge him to veto AB962. The Governor can be reached by phone at 916-445-2841 or via fax at 916-558-3160. To email Governor Schwarzenegger, please visit http://gov.ca.gov/interact.

Thanks to all,
FredB

According to the NRA, Schwarzenegger actually signed AB962 (rather than just allowing it to pass), but then the NRA is not a totally reliable source of information. The CA governmental legislative info site does not have current information up yet (no surprise).

In any case, AB962 is now CA law, and a most sorry piece of legislative garbage it is. I would use other words, but Scott would have to delete this message. The main issue for us CA target shooters is the prohibition of mail order ammo sales. In the long run this will probably kill almost all CA smallbore pistol and rifle target shooting. In the short run, it will probably cause a huge surge in mail order ammo purchases, and even more hoarding than we are now experiencing due to the Obama backlash.

End of story notice: "No criminals will be harmed by the making of this law."

What a pathetic state I live in!
