Broken bolt handle on Remington 514

Post by PaulB »

We have a couple of Remington 514's that we use with the smallest kids in our youth shooting program. Yesterday, the bolt handle sheared off on one, leaving the treaded part in the bolt body. Anyone know the cheapest way to fix this? It appears that a whole new bolt body costs around $50 if you can find one, but the whole rifle is only worth $100-$125 at most. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A gunsmith (any machine shop) can weld it. Tell him it's for the kids and he might do it free.
