Software for Tournaments

My club currently uses an Excel spreadsheet for Membership, Attendences and all things related to Competitions. It works but it's got drawbacks, the biggest being that very few people know how to use it (it apparently isn't very user friendly).

Anyway, I thought I would have a go at throwing something together myself (I work in IT as an Analyist - not a programmer though I do have some limited knowledge in this area). So I am at the requirements gathering stage and would love to hear from the experienced shooting public of this forum and active comp organisers (ISSF events) what you would need such software to do. ie Squadding - how is this done? - how would you like it done? - what features would you like to see?

You MUST assume that I know nothing about how things work now and I am NOT doing this as a commercial venture.

Cheers

David

You could start by duplicating the various features in OpenW and Club from Bruce Favell http://www.auspistol.com.au/software/default.htm, or take the easy way and have the club get a copy...

Thanks for the link Spencer. Although it looks like a very capable application I can see some issues with it but I will ask at the club to see why they chose not to use it.
