OTTAWA, ON (November 13, 2008) - The Shooting Federation of Canada is pleased to welcome Jason Jarvis as the new editor of AIM magazine. This volunteer position will free up more time for the current editor, Sandra Deeks, to focus on her job as the SFC's Office Manager.

A Nova Scotian living in northwestern Ontario, Jason has been a smallbore target rifle shooter for almost 20 years. He brings a wealth of experience to the role of editor, including more than seven years as a communications advisor for one of Canada's major banks.

"I first met Jason four years ago when he helped work on the SFC website re-launch," explains Reg Potter, President. "His knowledge and love of shooting, professional experience and attention to detail will be a great asset to the SFC. I know I'm looking forward to the next edition of AIM."

The Winter 2009 edition will be Jason's first as editor, with a hoped-for delivery by the second week of January. An editorial line-up has been prepared to keep chaos to a minimum, but any and all submissions are more than welcome.

"Canada's a big country, and it's hard to stay in touch with each other," says Jason. "The SFC exists to represent all shooters. AIM can play a key role in building a stronger community within the shooting sports - regardless of politics, preferred discipline, geographical location or language."

Planning is also underway for the rest of the year. Watch for regular departments and a variety of feature articles designed to appeal to all shooters and available in both official languages. Budding editors, writers and photographers are welcome to contact Jason at communications@sfc-ftc.ca to see how you can contribute to this and future editions.

Watch the SFC website for a notice that the edition has shipped and your mailbox for its arrival in mid-January!

Good luck.

Shouldn't be too hard to improve on what we get now, the last Aim I got was over a year ago anyways if not two.

I have a question for you: why is it that the SFC has now two sites ?

The second site is a test site and the federation is still discussing how to move forward with its online strategy.

I'm going to keep the Winter edition pretty basic while I work out the production process, so don't expect anything revolutionary. A lot has happened since last summer and I want to tell those stories first before getting more creative in late spring/early summer.

Once this first edition is printed and out the door I'll sit down with the Executive and talk about what can be improved and where to go with the next issue(s).

So stay tuned!

Jason
